Marion (Delpy) has broken up with Jack (Two Days in Paris) and now lives in New York with their child. But when her family decides to come visit her, she's unaware that the different cultural background held by her new American boyfriend Mingus (Rock), her eccentric father, and her sister Rose who decided to bring her ex-boyfriend along for the trip, added to her upcoming photo exhibition, will make up for an explosive mix. Example: Delpy saves a dove. Later, that dove goes on to (literally) shit on the people who have wronged her/failed to indulge her/have been ever so slightly critical of her behavior. Yeah. Not only is this a revolting, grotesque, snowballing phantasmagoria of narcissism and auto-cunnilingus, it's also the most compulsively unwatchable piece of shit to come out of the rear end of Cinema in some time. Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Julie Delpy. Fuck her to hell.

I think it might be better than the first one. I wouldn't say Delpy's direction was anything special, but it was fine. I really liked the film overall. It was very funny and I laughed a bunch of times. The chemistry between Delpy and Rock was fantastic. The rest of the cast were a lot of fun too. It wasn't particularly deep or anything, but it was pleasant and very enjoyable. Also, the Vincent Gallo cameo was brilliant.

I can't decide whether 2 Days in New York is more funny than irritating or vice versa, but the film is undeniable both. I haven't (yet?) seen 2 Days in Paris. The plot is quite exaggerated, but the familial dynamics are still somewhat familiar. Certain scenes have more cuts than a post-Bourne action film, and the dialogue can quickly switch between great and inane, but overall it's cute. Delpy's Marion definitely comes across as a headache, while Rock's Mingus is more sympathetic.

A definite improvement over 2 Days in Paris, largely due to the presence of Rock, Delpy's father, and the inspired Vincent Gallo cameo. The writing is a bit uneven, the insertion of narration excessive, and the visual style mostly non-descript. However, the film has a lightness and a warmth that carries through the film to the final, climactic scene. A better writer would probably do a bit more with the scenario, but watching this made for an entertaining evening.

I laughed and enjoyed here and there but overall it was hard to follow. I do not find Chris Rock funny.

It's certainly not '2 Days in Paris. But it's not all bad, Albert Delpy gets to unleash his 'craziness' again'. However Rock is not the match for Delpy as Goldberg was in the prequel (the dynamic is much flatter in this film) and as the story progresses the farce does become unpleasantly ludicrous.

Essentially an episodic, loosely plotted sketch-based comedy, hampered by its fractured narrative development. Then again, while it never goes anywhere interesting, the places it goes to provided plenty of laughs and Vincent Gallo popping up near the end, like the demented, self-righteous attention whore that he is, put a smile on this reviewer's face.

Too zany, and Delpy and Rock are such lazy caricatures of anglo- and afro-hipsterdom that's it's hard not to just laugh at them.

I liked it. It's not nearly as good/funny as 2 Days in Paris, but it is able to skirt by on Rock's presence and Delpy's never-ending charm. Plus, Vincent Gallo has a cameo and it is hilarious.

delpy may be self-absorbed and somewhat narcissistic, but she does have that flair that made woody allen special. the film is quite personal, and genuine in that regard. and it's always funny to see chris rock frown upon weed.

Not as good as the prequel but I still watched it for Julie. And needless to say, the goof-ups continue.

Messy and unstructured -- the family members are particularly thinly drawn characters -- but has enough laughs in it to justify itself.

Suffers slightly from being a little more cutesy than "Paris", but this is still great: obviously very personal to Delpy, and really very funny. While the setup may seem artificially complicated, the way it plays out feels emotionally real. I liked it a lot.

Delpy neither writes, directs, or acts very well here. That's probably the film's main problem, and it's obviously a big one. It's a chaotic mess, generally unappealing and unfunny apart from the occasional interventions of Chris Rock's character, a character who I would describe as the only sane person in this script if not for the fact that he spends about 10 minutes total talking to a Barack Obama cutout for no reason whatsoever, a schtick which is unfunny, awkward and does not work.

This is a very funny comedy. Julie Delpy is excellent in this movie, she is very funny. The quirky French family are also very enjoyable to watch. Chris Rock is also really funny, he has some funny lines and numerous great reaction shots. I highly recommend this comedy.

An extremely worthy sequel: Chris Rock slots into Delpy's Franco-American world marvellously, his chemistry with her is just as strong as Adam Goldberg's in the predecessor. The screenplay's just as sharp this time around, and the direction just as compelling.
