2 Guns is one of the funniest and most enjoyable movies I've seen all year, and I recommend giving it a watch, especially if you're a fan of silly, over-the-top action comedies, much in the same spirit as Cellular, which is my go-to example of such a film. It has a twisty plot, ridiculous action scenes, good chemistry with the leads, funny dialogue, strong supporting performances, and is a good time as long as you don't take it too seriously. I think it's worth seeing.

Worth it because the chemistry between Denzel and Mark Wahlberg is simply fantastic, I love watching these two trade typical buddy movie banter with one another, making it ridiculous and funny. Also some fantastic moments of action (a gunfight as money rains down on the participants is particularly crazy).

Double the guns and double the fun. Denzel and Wahlberg were awesome together. Their chemistry was spot-on and they had me laughing throughout the film. They also had the backing from an excellent ensemble. Bill Paxton, Edward James Olmos and James Marsden were just great additions to the cast. The writing was pretty funny but the plot became hard to follow a few times. The action sequences were really fun especially the final scene with the back to back shooting. A fun summer film.

I'm not sure where this went wrong for me. On paper it should be a classed up version of Bad Boys 2 with scenery chewing supporting actors huddled around Denzel and Marky Mark. But the movie is pretty standard-issue which would be fine if it didn't think it was so smart. The writers attempt some playful dialogue and zingers, but they never hit. The movie is sort of a wash for all involved. The characters, the chemistry and the story simply aren't up to par to make this stand out.

I had no hopes for this one. It just screamed failure with that cast. But hey, I was really entertained. Wahlberg is hilarious, and the chemistry between Wahlberg and Washington is good. The story is the same ol' same ol'. Lots of money, everybody want's 'em, they double cross each other to get 'em, there's some shootin' to get 'em but, nobody gets 'em. - Okay.

With a predictably weak (but weirdly hard to follow) story, 2 Guns naturally falls back on relying on chemistry between Washington and Wahlberg. The two are good together on screen, but unfortunately, they're at their best when they're both acting as their undercover personas, which is quickly dropped. The result is a pretty average buddy-cop action, which is amusing but hardly funny.

These characters seem to be far more focused on providing as much witty banter as possible than actually resolving any of the relatively dangerous situations at hand. It's fun at times, but it's too messy to really be anything, least of all particularly recommendable. I think my score would be alarmingly low if it weren't for Denzel & Mark lifting the film to an acceptable level.

I know it's the weakest form of criticism but not one part of this movie's plot makes sense. The Navy scams the DEA scams the CIA scams drug lords scams everybody... I'm left wondering why any character makes the decisions they do. It's entertaining for a while but nothing separates it from the pack.

It is a good premise but they take it a little too far. The action is fun to watch, this is a good escape for two hours. It is not the type of film which is memorable. At times they try to be funny but they just are not. This is a forgettable film, but it is alright for watching with some guys as long as you have alcohol to numb you to the sheer stupidity of this movie.

If it's just another buddy cop movie, I don't care. I had fun because of the action, because of the plot (yes, the plot. I did like it), and because I prefer seeing Mark as a bad person than a over dramatic father as in Transformers. But mostly I liked this movie because it was well put together, and I was focused on the movie 100% of the time. With all options of well regarded movies I had to choose from, I don't regret having sat through this one.

2 Guns is a funny action packed attempt at a crime drama. It pulls off what it sets out to do pretty deftly. Washington and Wahlberg are a good duo. They are a good mix of cool, badass, and goofy that makes them really likable and fun to watch. The casting of the movies was perfect. Bill Paxton as the slimy CIA agent was sublime. Edward James Olmos' performance made me wonder why he isn't in more movies. I really hope that Washington and Wahlberg team up again. This was a fun ride.

Jumbled and convoluted crime drama coasts for a while on the pleasing chemistry between Washington and Wahlberg, and some nice diabolical villainy from Paxton, but runs aground and starts spinning its wheels in the third act, as twists pile upon twists pile upon twists, so that ultimately the resolution of the plot becomes arbitrary, and the thinness of the characters are exposed, no matter how much fun the actors appear to be having. Not a complete waste of time, but still disappointing.

Fun action movie with good rapport and comedy between Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington. Wahlberg is a good comedic actor (like in Ted, The Other Guys, etc). Maybe I'm getting too easy on movies in my old age, but really? I'm one of the few people on here who thinks the movie was just a shit-ton of fun? I mean, Denzel and Wahlberg were just charming as fuck both solo and especially together. The movie was quite funny in certain chunks of it, the plot may have some holes but at least it twisted and turned a bunch. It's by the book in a lot of ways, but this obsession with that being a bad thing boggles my mind. Pure, popcorn entertainment.

Felt very similar to Safe House for some reason. Aside from Denzel being in both, don't ask me why. That being said, this came off to me a good deal better than Safe House did. This flick was thoroughly entertaining popcorn fare that wasn't trying to be anything more than it was -- a crime-based action-comedy with grit and quick wit at the same time, tons of chemistry between the leads, and an intriguing (and at the same time, familiar) story. It came highly recommended and it didn't disappoint.

Given its cast, 2 Guns doesn't really impress, though it still offers mild entertainment throughout. Washington and Olmos are great. Wahlberg competently acts the exasperated, "Nobody likes me." "Why am I in this situation." character that he constantly plays. The plot is farcical, which wouldn't be a problem save for the film can't decide whether it wants to be a comedy or a thriller and never blends the genres convincingly. Guess they were saving the NSA for the sequel.

Patton Goes To Washington: Movies where Paula Patton is romantically involved with Denzel Washington. The movie is the kind of ridiculous that often makes it feel like the movie-within-a-movie that other movies' characters would be watching in a silly "let's go to the movies!" sequence. Despite feeling like unwitting satire it can also be a lot of fun, as Wahlberg in particular brings a lot more to his character than what's on the page. His childish naivety in these things is so endearing to me.

Its total disbelief in American institutions -- CIA, Navy, DEA -- makes every dialogue and shooting, as forced as they seem to be, funnier as hell and more subversive than any line or action scene seen in Hollywood these days. Baltasar still has to improve his pacing, but 2 Guns is all about Mark being a dude who nobody likes -- he actually farts at somebody, if you didn't get the point -- and Denzel, well, just acting like that old sunny, smirking Denzel we love -- exepct for his misanthropy.

If you're gonna make such a staggeringly unoriginal film then at least try and do it with a bit of panache. 2 Guns can't be bothered: "We've got two big-name actors and a budget, so fuck it." What we get then, is an instantly forgettable, incredibly bland, utterly unfunny flick with random action scenes that's so tired and cliché you've completely lost interest by the time of the big finale. Denzel's actually okay; Wahlberg's cringeworthy. I'd have been unimpressed by this crap when I was 12.

This buried bone of a popcorn flick channels the gamesome pep of '80s buddy movies like 48 Hrs and Lethal Weapon, as the charmismatic leads and their fun-having supporters blast and clown their zig-zagging way through an energetically ludicrous and grandly conventional brawn-over-brains comedy of errors, as one defense service unwittingly takes up the gauntlet with another.

There's an intriguing mash-up of gritty drug drama and shoot-em up buddy cop comedy here, but a slightly convoluted narrative and constant movement between the genres hinders either aspect from gaining enough steam to have a lasting impact-and middling supporting turns for Wahlberg and Washington's steady leads don't help. There's some good moments here (usually more comedic than dramatic) and the double secret identity premise is fun, but the film lacks a solid and steady screenplay.
