A true western epic. Stunning and acted brilliantly from start to finish, 3:10 makes an excellent first impression, one which never ceases to fade away thanks to a gripping plotline, spectacular gun-slinging sequences, very interesting characters and great direction. Coupled with a brilliant soundtrack and an excellent cast 3:10 has single-handedly resurrected the genre. The western has had a long time to be perfected, but this is one of the small few which can claim to have truly cracked it.

This is, without a doubt, a very lame attempt at western. The dialogue is sub par, the acting is stale (even from Bale), the musical score is forgettable. Russell Crowe's portrayal of "the cool criminal" is exceptionally annoying and pushing believability. I guess the producers didn't receive the memo, the western genre was concluded with Eastwood's Unforgiven.

3:10 To Yuma was a terrifically acted film. It is very slow off the start but the pacing starts to build up around halfway through, and the action sequences and ending were all fantastic.

Having played Red Dead Redemption, it's easy to see this was a stylistic influence; the music and framing of gun battles, especially. It had everything I look for in a Western of this kind: Gritty badlands and lightning-fast action aided by an incredible cast of characters; notably Bale, Crowe and Foster. Well-scripted discussions of morality, honor & respect make the complicated relationship between rancher and outlaw grow at a believable pace. For me that made the ending intense and poignant.

They'll hang me in the morning.. Loved the part when they sang it for the first time. Loved the entire film actually. There aren't much films in this genre, and surely not many good westerns. But this is one of the best westerns I've ever seen. The shoot scenes are awesome, Christian Bale is great and Russell Crowe.. I love the way he plays the gentleman-killer. His character is one of the best I've seen lately in movies. Good remake! What do I say? Great remake!

Half of a decade after the original, this 3:10 to Yuma is a completely new experience. On top of a healthy serving of action and visual splendor, the acting is top notch, delivering the outstanding dialog in a manner that is befitting of the story's deeply psychological tones. Awesome!

Very well-made western, quite gripping and entertaining, Bale was outstanding as always, and Foster was great as well. Crowe on the other hand, just did his usual routine. However what prevents this movie from really being great is the completely eye-roll inducing second half which reminded me a lot of High Noon (in a bad way).

Russell Crowe and Christian Bale carry this western remake, an otherwise standard affair. The action sequences are far enough apart and well staged, but there's nothing exceptional to rave about other than the two lead performances. Maybe had the ending not been so contrived, I may have enjoyed it even more.

3:10 to Yuma is easily the best western in years. The DVD cover says best since Unforgiven, but I'd also give credit to Open Range. A successful western is rare in today's cinema, but 3:10 to Yuma is fun, evenly paced, and is anchored by a great cast lead by Russell Crowe and Chrisitan Bale, with some great supporting performances by Ben Foster, Peter Fonda, and Alan Tudyk. The only things that take me out of the movie are the sequences that involve huge explosions and a cameo by Luke Wilson.

Don't make the mistake of thinking of it as a retelling the story from the '57 classic film - it's different in many ways, with inclinations more towards action/road film then to a character study, and is much more romantic/idealistic then the original, somewhat surprising considering how simplistic the westerns tended to be back then. For me, it's another sad example of how very decent acting, costumes and filming never will make up for holes in the screenplay.

Mangold joins John Hillcoat in the ranks of modern directors who still know how to make damn good westerns. The score and cinematography are both quite good, but it's the acting that takes this morality play to the next level. Foster adds another formidable villain to his resume, but Crowe outdoes him as Ben Wade, creating one of the most well-rounded villains in recent memory. Bale hits all the right notes, and the chemistry between the two leads is dynamite. A fine film, and what an ending.

Overall decent western and OK acting but the action and character motivations were completely hokey. The best thing about this film is Ben Foster stealing scenes left and right from the two big co-stars. It's not a bad film just really forgettable and predictable.

Crowe and Bale are not really acting, as much as playing themselves very well, in this very good remake. Eastwood's insistence that the Western is less about action than about the morality of the gunplay is fully evident here, and proof that the Western is not yet dead, though the idealism still is. The only thing holding this film back are one-dimensional secondary characters (including an all-too-emo son figure), but the leads are so strong, it hardly matters.

Christian Bale and Russel Crowe give us stunning, Oscar-worthy performances, and 3:10 to Yuma is mainly to me, completely incomprehensible. To top that up, it features un-matched gun-slinging marathons, a nice gritty plotline and all in all it's a true 100% western masterpiece that even the slightest fan will go out pleased. Better than the dull original and it single-handely revived the beaten-to-holy hell genre it came from. Solid and one of the best of 07.

Some good acting on Crowe's part still can't save this mess of a film with Bale at his worst, and a finale which defies logic and all previous character development just to give us a big whizz-bang finish.

I have to say, I was a bundle of nerves throughout the entire film. There was no break from it because Crowe's character was so wild and unpredictable that he was capable of almost anything at any moment. Acting was great all around, really well-cast. I'm still not sure how I feel about the ending, but I was glad that it was definitive anyway. I really have no interest in Westerns in any way, shape, or form, but this one really held my interest and tugged at the heartstrings.

I haven't seen the original film adaptation, so I can't do any sort of comparison, but I don't imagine it being better than this. This is a really good Western. It's often thrilling and intense, if just slightly over the top, and the lead performances from Crowe and Bale are really good, and the rest of the cast do a great job, too. Fine entertainment.

The original is a classic western that I'm not so crazy about. Too corny in execution. I hoped James Mangold would bring some grit, which there's a small helping of, but it still retains the corniness; just a distinctly 00's corniness. And adding the son as a main character? Oh my, please no. Horrid decision. Crowe does alright; Bale is just a gruff and mopey semi-batman with a twist of insecurity and falsely accused cowardice. In both versions, it's the story and relational aspects that shine.

GREAT soundtrack. The ending was a bit confusing, but without having seen the original, I can't say if it's the fault of the story in general, or just this script. Other than that, a little slow on the uptake, but a very well done film in general. Crowe's in particular is a nicely rounded character.

3:10 to Yuma is a very enjoyable mix of a Western and a road movie. It takes two interesting characters, puts them in situations where trust and comradery are necessary for them to survive, and sees what they'll do in order to survive. Their interactions are so enjoyable to watch, even though the interruptions by the side characters are annoying. The action is entertaining, the ending is satisfying in multiple areas, and the film as a whole is a blast to watch.

A white-knuckle Western remake, starring an intense Christian Bale and a super enjoyable Russel Crowe, and the always fantastic Ben Foster. A farmer (Bale) on the edge of bankruptcy takes the job of escorting a notorious and wanted scoundrel (Crowe) to the train depot where he will be taken to stand trial for his life of crime: the farmer doesn't get paid if the criminal doesn't make it, and EVERYONE wants the criminal dead.

The western genre was misused and abused during the 90s (remember that cowboy film with Usher--yeah), but Mangold offers hope that there is a future in the western genre--or perhaps a future in remaking films in the western genre. You doubt the film, but you go into it expected brilliance from Bale and Russell and sure enough they deliver. Strange climax aside, the last 20 minutes is soured by the film abandoning its realism for a True Lies set piece that will annoy most viewers.

"even bad men love their mamas" gibi repliklere rağmen işliyor diye düşünürken final sağolsun hikayenin kendisinin pulp'tan çıkma olduğunu fark ettiriyor, ama sorun şu ki mangold film boyu tam olarak bundan kaçıyor. politik/ahlaki bağlantılara dair bir şey söyleme fırsatı olarak gördüğü için haddinden fazla ciddi yaklaşıyor belki fakat anlatının etkisi konusunda fena yanılıyor. iyi ama yanlış çekilebilirse bir şey, işte o bu. crowe'un imajını iyi kullanıyor.

Looks good and is Very enjoyable. While there's plenty of action this is primarily a charcter driven western and the great acting really helps set the tone and keep you wondering what's coming next. The only problem I had with the movie was that while I could follow and accept (and enjoyed) the character arcs, some the actual decisions they made and the way the characters executed them didn't quite work, especially near the end.

Clocking in at 30 minutes longer than the original film adaptation, this version spends a decent chunk of that extra time on "big, dumb action." It doesn't have that memorable theme song either. However, it also takes more time to deepen the characterizations beyond the original, lending this one a bit more emotional weight. A couple of small steps back don't quite wash out the giant step forward in how well the characters are written here. One of the few remakes that outdo the original.

3:10 to Yuma is one of the best westerns to release in a very, very long time. This nearly dead genre has had so many classics in the past it's really a shame that's the case. The action is top notch and the mood of the film has a very old-school approach. It feels more like Once Upon a Time in the West than it does the original 3:10 and that makes it top notch by any standard.

The plot is pretty good until the ending....I mean who's buying that? The distinction and blending of what constitutes right or wrong is a well explored theme during the first two acts but all the good work is destroyed by Wade's inexplicable u-turn. Various gun fights and are really good until .....yep, you guessed it.

As I understand things, in the original movie, the rancher saves the outlaw from a lynch mob, and the outlaw gets on the train at the end so that they're even, because he hates owing anybody. Here, in this remake, they make a hash out of teh story. The rancher is not a regular guy making a stand for decency; he's just a weakling. The outlaw's actions at the end become senseless.
