36 Hours

Rewatch. The movie itself isn't super special-- it climaxes far too early even though there are some great twists and turns before. But, man, the premise is brilliant and this film's score is dynamite. Enjoyable for what it is.

Characters were good. Cast was better. John Banner (from Hogan's Heroes) part was really good, and he played it so well.

Wonderful premise well executed. But the interesting part of the movie ends way too soon and the last 40 minutes or so just feels like epilogue.

Average execution of a good idea. Never intense or convincing. An important plot twist is blatantly telegraphed ahead of time. The Germans are either too sympathetic or too buffoonish.

"36 Hours" might not quench the thirst of adrenaline junkies, but it offers a rich tapestry of character interplay set against a backdrop of world-altering stakes. While the finale could have packed more punch, the journey, punctuated by compelling lead performances, was thoroughly enjoyable.
