Starts off bland '80s with a pumping soundtrack, then gets exciting when Roy Scheider starts getting involved in fighting back, then turns into a thriller-action film with an explosive ending. Ann-Margret could have been used more/better. Reminded me of Hardcore. John Glover plays a decent creepy guy and the trio of bad guys was memorable, especially Clarence Williams III who was scary. Good back-and-forth of control between the parties. Fav scene: Williams shooting through the window at Lenny.

"There's something about your face that makes me want to slap the shit out of it." Frankenheimer's follow up to The Holcroft Covenant is better, but underwhelming. The story is straight-forward (unlike Holcroft), but there's nothing superlative here. Scheider is ok, but I think there might have been more convincing actors for his role. The same could probably have been said about the baddies.

A great trio of bad guys and Roy Scheider makes this sleazy 80's thriller rather entertaining. A script by Elmore Leonard shows but Frankenheimer seems absent as director.

Trailers from Hell brought me here ( I recommend following John Olson's picks - really worth it!).

I first watched this movie when I was 12 years old, because it was on late-night Showtime, and it had nudity. Big mistake, this one messed me up for a long time. Flash forward about 10 years, I watched it again, and finally "got" it. A decent movie with an interesting ending. I've been a devotee of Elmore Leonard's movie adaptations since.

This 80s Frankenheimer adaption of an Elmore Leonard novel is an enjoyable neonoir.

Underrated 80's gem and one of the few good "serious" Cannon productions. Also serves as a proof that John Frankenheimer did some good work after his golden years (Manchurian Candidate, Seconds). There's almost a Tarantino-esque feeling to this -- thanks to Elmore Leonard's story. John Glover kills as one of the blackmailers.
