6 Souls

This is the second draft of my Shelter review, as the first one came off as little more than a (admittedly hilarious) death threat to everyone involved with the making of the film (from the directors on down). In hindsight, that was counter productive and immature. Reviewers, after all, should strive for constructive criticism. Mine is simple, to the point and, I think, quite measured and fair: To the cast and crew of Shelter - Eat shit, die and suck every cock in hell.

Starts out really strong and wonderfully moody, but as time goes on the jump scares and horror cliches rear their ugly heads. The plot also becomes sillier the more details are revealed, including a CSI-like soundwave extraction that got a good laugh out of me. Sort of like the Ring, but instead of a videotape you don't believe in god. Err, what?

Pretty tame and boring.

Didn't quite get it all.

Waste of talent.

It was sad that though the directing was nice and I liked the character of Julianne Moore (though she reminded me of her part in The Forgotten), the story get creepier and cheaper and worser more closer we get the end. Everything valuable was lost soon after the half of the movie. Looking forewards to see better written stories directed by Mårlind and Stein. Meyers then again did not have required skills for multiple personalities.

This wasn't the best thriller in the world but I found it enjoyable. I liked the mix of Psychology and Theology that this movie puts forward. Julianne Moore was good but Jonathan Rhy Meyers is great, having a very difficult role of multiple personalities. This film had me guessing a lot and although some of the detective work in this was a little laughable I still had a good time. Good jump scares (although a bit overdone) and some sick imagery. Worth at least a view.

Utterly generic supernatural thriller that leads nowhere.

Uzun zamandır bu kadar kötü bir film izlememiştim. İyi oyunculara aldanıp film izlememek gerektiğini öğrenemedim. Konu bir annenin her şeyi yapabileceği mi desen değil, psikoloji zaten değil, dini açıdan bir gerilim yakalamak istemişler ama sonuna doğru tempo çok düştü ve senaryo batacağı kadar battı. Meh.

A terrific performance from Meyers, but it doesnt quite redeem the utterly bog standard plot

The first 15 minutes were ok. After that the film was just really really really fucking bad. Stay away bad. Far far away.

Top badass moment? The unsung hero of this film is definitely mild mannered musician Stephen. Along with his suspiciously impressive solving of the 'shadow on the video' mystery, his fast drive and then attempt to slow down Adam, despite his rather nasty injures, make his actions deservedly badass. At least someone was doing something positive. What a shame he died... 0 cats and 0 decapitations. Adam does do a rather neat neck stretching trick though. Eew.

Firstly I should mention that I have a soft spot for the supernatural genre. Shelter has well built up storyline and it has a nice feeling and mood to it all the way through. It is missing a bit of the catharsis experience regarding the plot, but it comes close compared to others in the genre.

Why does Julianne Moore make conventional Hollywood lame-horror dumbness her natural habitat? For some reason I thought she was better than that...

Enjoyed at the time but left little to no impression I had to watch trailer to remind myself so it cant have beeen as good as 1st thought |BACKFILLING LOAD OF FILMS NOT SEEN FOR LONG TIME -> Scores poss 20-30% out. worth a watch

AWESOME idea...thrown into a predictable story with almost no scare factor. Meyers did an incredible job.
