Jason Schwartzman portrays Larry, an inebriated sad sack who rides a tide of booze onto the shores of an undiscriminating Quick-Lube. The only bright spot is probably his boss, Lupe. (imdb)

Bland and inconsequential portrait of Schwartzman's slacker is (like its lead) laid back and easy to take, but a lack of edge or any meaningful conflict means its largely a bit of a snooze, livened occasionally by its support cast who do occasionally confound expectations - its nice that Pienta successfully avoids the MPDG tropes for example, though a wasted Dukakis is never asked to rise above the "barbed granny" archetype. A middling effort.

I love Jason but this movie should have been about the dog only. He's the real star.

Quirky white guy in his late-20s/early-30s struggles to get his life together. He acts goofy and everyone around him is more mature. But by the end he matures. I feel like we've been getting the same movie every festival cycle for the past 20 years.

In line with Byington's others in that it's an occasionally laugh-out-loud comedy under 75 minutes, thus already worthy of admiration, but the differences were more intriguing than expected, perhaps reflective of the director's hinted-at faith. Less quippy; earthier, more "sincere". Smarmy-slacker Book of Job. Book of Jobless? isn't the Perry segment a Samaritan update for wiseass hipsters? & don't tell me there's not a moneylenders'-table vibe to turning over the big barrel of change...

I only watched this a few years ago, but I don't recall much about it at all, which suggests that for me it is a forgettable film. Although, perhaps I am lying somewhat, as I do remember that Eleanore Pienta had quite the screen presence and Olympia Dukakis is always worth watching whether on TV (e.g., Bored to Death') or film.

Great soundtrack! Admittedly the whole thing kind of feels like small potatoes and kinda inconsequential, but if you're a Jason Schwartzman fan you should definitely check this out. At the very least its only an hour and fifteen minutes so its a rather easy watch.

A little disappointed because I really loved Somebody Up There Likes Me and this seemed like a step back. But immediately after watching this it made me wanna get back to the script I'd left half written in favour of other things.

1 Jason Schwartzman filmi. Hayat devam ediyor. Horlayan bulldog yapmışlar.

Asinine and pointless. Not a funny moment in the entire movie. The title makes as little sense as any of the dialog or plot. A total waste of time. Jason Schwartsman stinks it up, then bores us until it's over. Don't waste your time with this, there is nothing worthwhile whatsoever. I just can't understand how anyone could like this crappy movie.

Byington's most assured and "mature" work, yet somehow to me it feels like a step backwards from Somebody Up There Likes Me in a way. As an ode to 20/30-something slackerdom there are definitely things that hit home here, but it also all feels fairly familiar, albeit certainly enjoyable for what it is. Mostly it just suffers from coming off of Listen Up Philip, which transcended these tropes by flipping them on their heads in electrifying ways (Alex Ross Perry's cameo is a telling highlight).

Very, very quirky and oddball. Quite rarely amusing. The dog elevates the movie as they almost always do. Named after a good early REM song, which plays over the ending credits, and in typical indie fashion has nothing to do with the movie.

Super dry comedy which in some way appealed to me. Must have been the hopeless person in me relating to that pathetic creature.

This was horribly shot, really. I like movies with no discernible plot/story, but this was painfully uninteresting. The dog was cute though, there's that.
