It may be an impressive story in Korean history, but it doesn't show in this movie. I didn't have any sympathy or interest in any of the characters, they just stumble along till the North Koreans finally attack. The only one standing out was the North Korean general. The final battle scene has it moments, but it doesn't make up for the rest of the film.

Deeply moving but very one-sided; thought that was expected from a South Korean Film. Worth a watch ALONG with the film Across The Bridge; a film from North Korea about the same series of events. The two films TOGETHER do a very good job of telling the total, complete, TRUE story of what happened.

Nothing is better then seeing commies get what they deserve, but aside from the great plot, it was a touching film on the honour of these ancestors who truly sacrificed themselves for there country in regard of there potential futures especially being students in a time where universities where smaller and less wide compared to now.
