I can't believe this movie won best picture. Opie was obviously gunning for Oscars and fooled a lot of people by producing some really melodramatic bullshit. Idiots will love this as it is a really simplistic view of a very complex disease that actually becomes offensive because they fuck it up so badly. It's really not surprising that the guy who wrote Batman & Robin wrote this either. hahaha, just realized the guy who wrote Batman & Robin has an Oscar. Epic fail Hollywood

The complaints surrounding this movie's historical inaccuracies and portrayal of mental illness are valid. I like it anyway. Sue me.

I can't stand Russell Crowe in this role. Practically anyone else could've done a better job of playing a genius than god damn Russell Crowe. Also, half of the plot turning out to be the result of schizophrenic fantasies is about as sophisticated a narrative device as "It was all a dream!". Those issues, unfortunately, ruin what could've been a great movie.

1 of the few films I find dangerous. The message at the end of this film is irresponsibility of the highest order. Given the number of out-patients who stop taking their meds as soon as they feel better (and families who allow them to out of wishful thinking) this film's "We can get through my mental illness w/ love" message is almost criminal. If this movie makes you "feel good" keep that feeling in mind the next time you're disturbed by a "crazy" person in the street. Probably an outpatient.

A Beautiful mind captures the true individualism in ones irrational way in solving math problems. Born a genious, John Nash has always had a knack for numbers. Although I think his psychological is overplayed a little, Russle Crowe plays a very convincing skitsefrenic. I thought the plot was very well thought out along with the scenery of the film. The title, "A Beautiful mind" does not do this movie justice.

In my opinion, this was by far the best role Russell Crowe has played in his entire acting career. The movie was beautiful and tricky. The fact that it mirrored a true story also made it that much more attention grabbing. The thought that such a detrimental medical diagnoses of schizophrenia was overcome by this brilliant man made me believe that there should be no reason for any person to be unable to accomplish anything. Anyone interested in medical miracles should see this movie, immediately.

Very loosely inspired by the life of John Forbes Nash Jr. It uses stereotypes of schizophrenia to cater the the public's common perspection of it instead of trying to actually change it for the better. A shame because Crowe does deliver a solid performance as usual.

Embarassing - as Kate Winslet says 'You are guaranteed an Oscar if you play a mental'. A really offensive interpretation of mental illness and I could not believe this won the Best Picture Oscar. Yuck.

Clunky direction that could only be Ron Howard's fault, this is quite possibly the worst picture to win Best Picture at the Oscars.

Paul Bettany good, Russle Crowe not, Jennifer Connelly lovely to look at but underused. Valiant attempt to use maths in mainstream cinema.

Someone please tell Hollywood it's okay to portray smart people as actual humans and not "durr I formulated a deterministic algorithm regarding the movement of pigeons I love to use big words also I am socially awkward can I please have intercourse with your bodily fluids"

Instead of just portraying Nash as a schizophrenic, Howard tries to take you inside the mind of one. The results, unsurprisingly, are laughable.

Man, I hate this movie for the over appreciativeness of Rasel crow. as much as people love this movie for his acting I think he is crappy, and the more the movie relies on this unworthy appreciation the more it sucks.

Nothing particularly bad or good about A Beautiful Mind. It's just another movie that really doesn't do a lot to seperate itself from the others just like it.

Passes the time. The cold war paranoia was interesting, but of course the big twist comes and negates all that. The Hollywood-ized schizophrenia presented here is tedious and annoying. Crowe's good, but besides him this is mostly forgettable.

Russell Crowe playing some sort of super-genius automatically puts this flick firmly in the "comedy" category... except there are no laughs. And it just gets worse as it goes on. There is nothing sympathetic whatsoever about Crowe, so when the audience is asked to empathize with his increasing problems, all is lost. More sappy, feel-good crap rewarded with multiple Oscars. The only element Crowe COULD have made believable--Nash's real-life bisexuality--was completely left out of the movie.

How did this EVER win the Best Picture Oscar?! I mean, come on! It was up against the spectacular Moulin Rouge, the best part of the LOTR trilogy, the unforgettable drama of In The Bedroom and yet another great Altman ensemble piece, Gosford Park. Four splendid films - two of them masterful. But no, let's award the plain, sobby biopic by the dude from Happy Days and penned by the writer of Batman & Robin. This will forever be beyond me, AMPAS.

A throwback in style to Warner's biopics of the 30s on Louis Pasteur and others, with Crowe standing in for Paul Muni: a messy life is rendered in simple, bright colors and given the standard narrative trajectory of triumph over adversity.

Crowe was his usual brilliant self, portraying an even more brilliant person. Cool story with very good acting and a chilling depiction of the life of someone with a genius IQ but a crippling mental illness.

Though I wouldn't have guessed it a best picture winner, A Beautiful Mind is interesting nonetheless. Though I wasn't a huge fan of Crowe in the role, the rest of the cast does a very good job and the script becomes pretty great about halfway through. I had a little problem with the direction but this seems in no way reflective of the director Howard becomes. It's a bit rough around the edges, but honestly it's a really interesting flick.

I know that I should scoff at all the common cliches and the horrendous understanding of mental illness this movie demonstrates but I did enjoy this, even if only a little.
