A Better Tomorrow III: Love and Death in Saigon (1989)
At the end of the Vietnam war, Cheung goes to Saigon, intent on bringing his uncle and cousin back to Hong Kong. In Saigon, Cheung meets beautiful gangleader Chow, and relies on her help for their safe return. A love triangle develops between the cousins and Chow Further complicating matters, Chow's lover Ho, a gang leader, appears Ho deports the cousins, and kills their uncle. (imdb)

It's a far more cogent, well-written narrative than the first two films, but doesn't have that same thrilling action. The main problem is that the central love story doesn't make sense; why does Chow fall for Cheung, anyways? There is no chemistry between them either, thanks to Pop Princess Anita Mui's inability to act. It's a fun film, but the entertainment is nowhere close to its predecessors, and the story is "movie decent", nothing more.
