One of the first gialli, but unfortunate not one of the most engaging. The central relationship between the overly jealous much older John Mills and beautiful much younger Luciana Paluzzi feels very problematic, which made it hard for me to get involved. This mostly is recommended to people interested in the evolution of genre. This feeling for a large part as a German krimi the influence of that on gialli is very evident in this.

Another mediocre crime film filled with shitty people and nothing of real interest to show for any of it.

Moody enough for a giallo. Wife Lisa was distractingly beautiful, of course, which raises more questions about the detective's relationship with her to begin with. Are we supposed to be unsympathetic toward her? I ended up being quite on her side, especially since detective was quite abusive. Fav scenes: hitman looking like he's going to shove Lisa off the cliff; hitman flying through the air after being shot.

This early giallo is closer to a Hitchcock thriller than e.g. Blood and Black Lace. It’s set in Hamburg which gives it a more down to earth feel than the usual jetset gialli of the era. Plot is also more coherent than usual. It’s a solid film, but feels like a step down for director Dallamano after Bandidos, and it doesn't reach the heights of his later Gialli (Solange, ..Your Daughters). Cast is OK: John Mills as the jealous detective, Paluzzi as the beautiful wife and Hoffman as the hitman.
