I admire Kashua for his singular contribution to Israeli culture, but his observations that translate so well to comedy (say, in "Arab Labor"), fizzle as an Eran Riklis melodrama. Eyad is a sympathetic character, but after a while the "Arab in an oppressive Jewish environment" shtick grows monotonous. Thank you for that viewpoint, you've opened our eyes, but we get it, and more is not always better, especially when it's all so sugar-coated. It would have benefited from more complexity.
