I think I like George Sanders better as the Falcon than as The Saint. There is more of a screwball aspect to this character, while the darker B-movie aspect of the Saint made that character dull rather than multi-dimensional. At least with this one he can play around more. Loved the suicide scene! Especially the on-lookers reaction. The actual crime was barely there. It was more about the Falcon, his dames and practical jokes.

The murder mystery is completely inconsequential, but it acts as a nice frame on which to hang the more screwball aspects of the plot. Sanders is his usual witty self, Wendy Barrie looks like she's having a hoot chewing the scenery, and there are lots of other minor characters who pop up with a funny line or two. The hotel clerk (Conreid) is absolutely hilarious.
