A Girl's Own Story

Shows moments of potential but for the most part it's unfocused and vacillates between pretension and stupidity.

For an Australian film, this deserves credit for offering something other than the most predictably conformist fare, focusing on the troubles and confusions of incipient female sexual awareness in a 1960s Australia that is still rather closed yet exposed to the emergent culture industry. Performances and production are fairly rudimentary, but the feeling that what we have been shown amounts to a source of real suffering is reinforced by an effective concluding song (composed by Alex Proyas).

Film school production, and it shows. Has that cocky

Sexy, somewhat juvenile and very challenging short film, exploring the sexuality of teenage girls. There are plenty of experimentation and narrative isn't very coherent. But this isn't a film that tells the story, more like it tries to recreate the feeling, the atmosphere. It feels very personal and womanly.

The song at the end is amazing!
