Silly 'movie of the week' material tarted up by a pair of award caliber performances from Allen and LaPaglia, and King's immediately recognisable colloquial pen within the screenplay. it's a shame that the film stutters at the conclusion, where a final twist might have clicked everything more satisfyingly into place; Lang's air of creepy foreboding also fizzles out somewhere along the way.

Fairly mundane adaptation fails to really delve into the dynamic it sets up. Allen is good that's about the only thing.

The setting, protagonist and production design were so perfect for this story set in a Douglas Sirque-esque world. Some good ideas in there, but ultimately is spread very thin, reeking of an underdeveloped adaptation of a short story that missed a lot of opportunity to enrich the characters and world.

A Good Marriage had potential but nothing much was made of it. It's also disheartening when the character you've got most sympathy for is shamelessly cut down.

Completely hilarious and disjointed. You can feel Stephen King's little touches in the New England setting and the dying detective, but you will also be overwhelmed by the feeling that you're watching a Lifetime made-for-tv movie.

A simple story, which looks like it might become a dark reflection on priorities of family, respectability and appearance, but ultimately doesn't, really. I accidentally downloaded it thinking I was getting a Rohmer film.

Joan Allen was marvelous and carries this near train wreck of a movie. Anthony LaPaglia's role was mostly unconvincing. Not nearly as crappy or as stupid as Stephen King's usual offerings. It certainly has the stink of King's writing but surprisingly, it worked well enough to be worth watching. Frequently uncomfortable in a good way, and it has a satisfactory ending. But, the last 10 minutes should have been cut since it adds nothing after the climax.

Not as bad as the IMDB rating say but far from great either. Didn't read the book but I can imagine that people that did was let down by the movie.
