The plot of the film is ridiculous, i see it almost as a science fiction. How can a guy married with Scarlett Johansson have an affair with Helen Hunt? crazy....

The material is good, but I thought the performances were very weak. Maybe the casting is wrong. I'm not sure why the choice to make the Windermeres American. Helen Hunt's voice sounded particularly annoying for some reason (I've never hated her voice before) but other people's diction and delivery seemed poor as well. This some how dragged despite a lot of good elements.

T.Wilkinson is a good man; the rest of this is tedious and unconvincing - except Scarlett's nip...Oh my God, woman. *Preview*: #14#, story, Scarlett.J!/9.

Ok, any movie with Scarlett Johansson is bound to be good, add Helen Hunt and you have the dynamic duo. The story was a bit stuffy, rich aristrocrates and such. In the end it was about a mother love for her daughter, even is she was a gold digger at heart. Excellent performances abound and the movie had few low points. I liked it.

"A triumph of costume design, A Good Woman is also a toothless dog with little internal momentum." - Ed Gonzalez

Helen Hunt's voice grates on me in this film. Other than that it was fairly enjoyable. The scenery was great, but I just can't get over Hunt.

"It looks pretty enough with its scenic and period trappings and bright young things Johansson and Moore. But it's like fizz gone flat, the celebrated sparkling humour muted by a tone that stumbles uncertainly between dramedy and very low-key farce."

good idea and pretty well done overall, but the miscasting of Hunt sinks this one....

Lovers of costume period pieces will enjoy this more than most, while fans of Wilde will probably find it an interesting rendering of his play, even if it isn't of the quality that suggests Academy Award nominations are in order.
