Excruciatingly boring.

Stylish, and visually lovely, it often soft-pedals Waugh's brutal satire, though less so towards the end. I always find it easy to hate Kristin Scott Thomas, but her deft portrayal of the callous twat Brenda Last makes it VERY easy. James WIlby is perfect as the good-hearted, too-noble-for-his-own-good Tony Last. Good performances all around, Every female character is odious, except Anjelica Huston's...makes me want to avoid England altogether. Fortunately, they kept the best line in the novel.

Interesting adaptation of Evelyn Waugh novel - perfectly mannered on the surface with a very dark heart.
