Yet another movie that makes me cry. It was a great look at the All American Girls Baseball League. Even if you're not much for sports movies or the chick-flick quality, you should see this if nothing else for Jon Lovitz as the talent scout. I love the dialogue he spouts.

Too melodramatic for a comedy, too uninteresting for a drama. Not enough drunk Hanks. He's the only flavor, so they really should have marinated every scene in him. Geena's sister is a b-word, and I don't mean baseballer!

Being an alcoholic in the 40s was fun. I'm on team Kit. I like baseball more than watching baseball - this makes sense trust me Jon let me steal this picture before it gets going Lovitz - this IMDb trivia blurb Jon Lovitz was so into one scene that he didn't notice a cow giving birth (off camera) while filming.

This was alright. It's based on a fairly interesting piece of history, but it's all a bit too sanitised and feel-good. It never seems like there's any real conflict. The performances are fine, even if the characters are mostly caricatures. Nothing special, and a bit too sentimental and typical of these movies. I will admit to getting emotional during the ending, though.

What amounts to a middling presentation of interesting material is given a shot of life by a well chosen cast hitting home runs right down the line (whoda thunk Madonna and O'Donnell could play off each other like a regular Abbott and Costello?). Sitcom styling and a certain broadness in some performers (Hanks) makes this an easy pill to swallow, but at 2+hours it starts to become a bit much. What's with the bizarre wrap around with older actresses mouthing the words of Davis et al?

cute and entertaining, I guess. a lot of the actors are having fun with their characters; Lovitz in particular is a stand-out. the story itself is worth telling, but the details are shoddy, and the construction of the film is lazily built upon dumb gags and cheap sentimentality. the women this film is supposed to be honoring deserved much better. but at the same time, this movie could have been so, so much worse. the song over the end credits rings false.

This is a 90's movie in all the best ways, which means I can understand why someone might not like it. The score, that score. You're telling me Hans Zimmer used to make stuff like that? Anyways the acting is all around good, and there is a certain level of charm to the whole thing that to some extent makes it easy to overlook the predictable/cliched and overly sentimental parts.

This is an incredibly sweet, good-natured comedy-drama, in which, the actors' performances are so good, that they even manage to lift the usually-dire Madonna's turn. If you don't enjoy this, and, if it doesn't, at least once, make you smile, there is something seriously wrong.

It's got a solid cast and Geena Davis and Tom Hanks are both suitably hilarious and serious at the same time. The plot is pretty much what you could expect from a sports movie, so it doesn't grant you with too many surprises. Maybe that's why it's fairly relaxing movie to watch.

A 'version' of a true story. Hanks plays the drunk ex-big leaguer [actually Jimmie Foxx] who manages. The several women's roles are all constrained - because of the size of the cast, but they all do well. It's a real part of opur history worth remembering and the movie does it justice.

I don't really know what to think about this film - I mean it's supposed to be feminist, dealing with women's baseball and all, but I felt like underneath its facade of feminism it had a lot anti-feminist themes. Moreover, the protagonists are very unlikable. we get no insight into their psychology, or any sense of humanism, beyond their initial, one-dimension personas. Having said all this, I still thought the film was pretty entertaining, and tom hanks was great as always.
