A great movie in the vain of Junkers Come Here and some of the studio Ghibli films. It drags a bit towards the middle and loses focus and the big finale seems unnecessary. But over all a very please and satisfying movie.

A little too similar to Totoro, but still enjoyed it overall. The goblins added a special touch which makes the film memorable.

Lacks any real depth in its characters and story but an endearingly simple film nonetheless.

My favorite moments occur when Momo is alone and there's a profound sense of emptiness and abandonment as she deals with a lack of closure concerning her father's death. The more imaginative moments are fun, but much of it seems to be imitative of superior films from Studio Ghibili (My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away, in particular).

You can clearly see how much makers of this film were inspired by Ghibli films. Producers at the screening mentioned "Spirited Away" as one of their inspirations but for me it was almost like different take on Totoro. Some very similar themes, but unfortunately yokai in this film lack any charm that made Ghibli film so magical. "Momo" is also in need of better editing, such a simple story doesn't really need 2 hours to be told.

A great protagonist and absolutely beautiful score get utterly ruined by an overlong, meandering runtime, and material that's blatantly derivative of My Neighbor Totoro without any of the cuteness, wonder, and whimsy. If this had been an hour-long film about a girl coming to terms with her father's death, who maybe imagines some less disgusting and annoying spirits, who help her through the grieving process, it could probably have been a pretty powerful film. Ah, 'twas not to be.

From what seemed like the same animators as Only Yesterday came a movie that was just as dull and a waste of time.

Nothing special, but cute and heartwarming. A bit longer than it needs to be.

As another reviewer here said, this reminded me a great deal of My Neighbor Totoro, but I would definitely say Totoro was much more charming and fantastic than this. Regardless, A Letter to Momo runs off of a very simple premise and overall it was very effective and heartwarming. The animation is very fluid and beautiful; at points it almost felt like rotoscoping because the movements were so real/human. The film most definitely could have been shorter, but overall it was great and enjoyable.
