Brilliant madness, thoroughly enjoyable. Helps to have listened to the full audio book on YouTube before watching the film through, saves some confusion. I liked the way the real footage was interspersed throughout working well to add to the animation.

Much like most Monty Python, particularly when animated, this is hit and miss. Some very funny moments but some very tedious ones as well. Still, great that it was able to be made at all.

Takes a while to get into... some early scenes just drag and the laughs are sparse throughout. The more-interesting second half chronicles Chapman's life spinning out of control as the varied animation styles add to the confusion. I'd say it's worth a watch for a python fan or someone interested in animation. Everyone else will be bored or irritated.

Considering that I'm a major Monty Python nerd, this is coming from a place of SIGNIFICANT bias. I'd still like to think that even if I didn't have the entire series on DVD, I think that this is still a fine accomplishment. The decision to make the film almost entirely animated (save for some TV and interview footage) works well within the Monty Python aesthetic. I wish it went a little further than 1979, but there's not much to do about that. All in all, an enthusiastic recommendation.
