A Life at Stake

Stupid....sexy...Angela Lansbury can't save this by-the-numbers noir, but she tries her best and is quite seductive. The writing isn't great and the younger sister is annoying. The husband being in on it was a nice twist. Fav scenes: Lansbury by the pool, Lansbury in the friend's apartment.

Decent thriller, although the plot takes some odd turns here and there. It manages somehow to make Angela Lansbury seem like an ordinary actress (which she most definitely is not), although she gets in some good innuendos: "How do you like it?" (while thrusting her rack toward his face). Jane Darwell steals every scene she's in. Keith Andes should wear what he's wearing in the first scene for the entire picture.
