A Little Help

Interesting drama.

Popular tv show star does an indie movie and no one cares. Sad times. The lies in particular are pretty amazing, but the rest flounders.

The good news is that Jenna Fischer can carry an independent drama. However, this writer-director needs more than "a little help" to turn his ideas into gold. So many subplots and themes are opened up and not one of them is followed through to a proper conclusion. Furthermore, what a dire attempt to lighten serious drama with comic relief. This is a zero-laugh film. And pretty depressing, which I'm sure it doesn't mean to be. Mainly a case of potential talent bogged down by a god-awful script.

A whole lot of buildup to no payoff whatsoever.

There are definitely some unconventional pieces to this story, but it still comes across as a bland little melodrama.
