Living in misery with an alcoholic father, Nanninella is courted by two men, Tore and Carluccio. Jealous and enterprising, the latter proposes to the patriarch to provide for him if he gives him the hand of his daughter. But the situation degenerates, and Nanninella's father finds death during the fight. Carluccio then accuses his rival of the crime to get rid of him.
