A Somewhat Gentle Man

There were many funny and absurd moments. Several things seemed like imitations of the Big Lebowski, including the patter between Jenner and the much abused Rolf, and the cold, bossy women who see sex as a transaction, much like Julianne Moore's character in Lebowski. In this movie, the women were all alike in this way and the joke started to feel misogynistic. The ending was a bit too pat.

Not impressed, it moves very slowly and it got maybe 2 tiny chuckles out of me. I was expecting a funnier movie. Disappointing

I loved this. It has a really dry sense of humour and a sympathy for its characters which lifts it above just black comedy. The whole cast is good but Skarsgard is superb, underplaying for once and getting a lot of laughs from his slightly bemused, deadpan expression. The editing is tight too, keeping the whole thing snappy.

Very good black comedy, nothing profound but lots of laughs. Stellan Skarsgard gives a performance that might be positively described as Bill Murray-esque.

Skarsgard is usually better than average, but, here, he gets to shine. Absolutely hilarious.
