In this comedy, a talented singer is hired to dub the voice of a star who has lost his own. During the film's premiere, news that he sang the songs slips out and suddenly he finds that he himself has become a star. Unfortunately he soon encounters unanticipated problems. He is especially concerned about his girl friend who dumped him in favor of the voiceless star.

The Austrian toad Joseph Schmidt returns to sing one last time, remaking Austrian hit Ein Stern fällt vom Himmel (1934) in English for the UK studio British International Pictures.... and changing the ending so it's not so happy for the little guy, teaching us once again that it doesn't matter how talented and nice you are, you'll lose out to the phony guy with moviestar looks in the end. Easy light operatic fun.
