As is typical with Rohmer, I appreciate the sensibility of the filmmaking: the patience, the interiority of the dialogue, and the spaces. Here, the friendship struck up remains interesting throughout, even as Jeanne stands at the center of the film. There is something of an awakening here, a move from a kind of depressed isolation to frustrating community that I really like.

Rohmer reflects on the nature of spring to be reborn from the extreme adaptations of previous seasons. This includes the reflection on disorder, in this case, love's disorder. It parallels the constant of time within relationships that bring it to a point of reflection, feeling renewed and yet unable to be completely emancipated from the disorder that we know as it's comfort holds weight in the heart.

I'm a little conflicted on the score, because there were certainly parts that were wonderful (I most liked the time spent looking at the different architectural bits as everyone seems to own a multitude of houses and apartments). The dialogue was interesting but felt like it would have worked better when read from a book. I guess I was waiting for it to surprise me by going in a different direction; it stayed very predictable.

Rohmer'in mekan seçimlerine bayılıyorum. Entelektüel birikimini de sergilediği, zekice yazılmış senaryoları da yoğun diyalog içermesine rağmen hiç yormuyor, akıp gidiyor. (Fransızcayı dinlemek zaten her zaman çok keyifli. :)) Filmleri bir başyapıt izlemişim hissi uyandırmıyor belki ama sadeliğiyle, naif duygusallığıyla etkiliyor, büyülüyor.
