This film was produced by Thomas Edison for his Home Kinetoscope in 1910, Many have confused this film with Melies "A Trip To The Moon" and claimed that it is a pirated version of Melies work. But nothing could be more wrong - it is totally original and represents The First American Science fiction movie. (treksintime)

Not the Melies rip-off I was expecting. It's got its own unique imagery, like the devil bit, which must be one of the longest held close-ups of the 1910s.

Definitely more fantasy than science-fiction. The devil looks interesting and the punchline made me chuckle, which is all I can ask from a film made in 1910.

This is really great :D ! The discovery of reverse gravity is hilarious and the Martians are quite cool, too. Considering the huge step the mankind has done in one hundred and two years, I sometimes want to live forever to see where the intelligence and curiosity will lead us.
