Abdul the Damned

Big and small production at the same time. The story about the Sultan Abdul Hamid II of the Ottoman Empire and his ever growing paranoia and bored desire for bloodbaths. A lot of detail and a grueling story of the abuse of those in power. But a lot of the acting was done in minimal scenes and executed almost in straight stage bound style. Gives the movie a certain poetic feel, but also makes the experience uneven. This is definitely a interesting British production for Fritz Kortner to headline.
