Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies

"Four score and some more years ago, our fathers brought forth the zombie film, conceived in proper fear, and dedicated to the proposition that all zombiefilms should be awesome. Now we are engaged in a great cinematic malaise, testing whether that genre can long endure. We have come to rate a shitty entry in that genre, as a powerful middle finger to all those that would try to get away with a shoddily put together piece of crap. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this."

With a title like this you'd expect a comedy, but unfortunately it's all meant to be serious. Hard not to laugh about it though, with all those dumb, annoying accents and zombies just standing peacefully and chilling out. The cheap, fake, stick on beards are hilarious

I could excuse the bad history, bad acting, bad writing, and low production value if the movie were charming or fun, but it isn't. It bored me, even with the zombies.

I appreciate that it doesn't try for comedy it doesn't have the brains to pull off; any humour comes entirely from being a rather standard zombie movie that happens to feature Lincoln, Jackson, Booth, Pat Garret and a young Teddy Roosevelt. It's not a very GOOD standard zombie movie, but Oberst delivers, the sheer absurdity gives it some amateur charm, and it mostly avoids trying to use the zombies to Say Something Relevant about the war. It is what it is.

Takes itself way to serious and lacks good zombie moments.
