Abrakadabra

Captures the look and feel of those high contrast Giallos very well and did a good job with its production designs. If the period hair was more faithful it could easily be confused for an early 80's production. It's a little short though, not much suspense, and could have used much more detective work digging deeper into the occult occurrences only briefly touched upon. The music is great however and really fits. Gore is both a little lite or quite graphic only quickly shown. Recommend Rental.

worth a watch

I've been on a recent streak of watching homage films. Lake Mungo, The Editor...Abrakadabra does a good job emulating the giallo lighting, the titles, sounds, contrasting clothes and patterns, blood, the interesting/weird/distinctive looking people, a cop taking down information, but worst of all, a messy plot. Style over substance. I can't wait to watch other Onetti films. I'd just play this to have it on. Fav scene: the overhead shot of him walking on zig-zag ground into the auditorium.
