Holy FUCK. Over 2000 reviews on Criticker, and I'm genuinely surprised I haven't said that more often. Holy FUCK. I kept wishing the plane I was watching it on would crash so my soul could be delivered to hell, and I could spend eternity having my skin flayed with a rusty butter knife rather than finish this fetid pile of decaying fetuses. Sure, I suppose I could have just turned off the screen, but I didn't want to give up my armrest. Never give up. - Che Guevara.

The thing I liked about this film is the devilish trickery involved with the use of the power, as in you have to be exact and definitive on what you wish for (i.e. wishing everyone who ever died be alive and they come back as zombies) A throwback to 80's type "Devil/God" comedies (mostly the ones starring George Burns), there are some good sight gags and a few chuckles, but they only scratched the surface on what could have been. Still better than Bruce Almighty though.

Terry Jones wrote and directed Absolutely Anything (2015)! All the living members of Monty Python and the late Robin Williams do voice-overs! Got a otherwise very familiar British cast with Simon Pegg in the lead. Unfortunately the material is thin and you get no laughs from the comedy legends playing aliens and dogs. This plays out as a comedy for the absolute youngest audience with a few adult jokes thrown in. No point for Monty Python fans to seek this one out. Simon Pegg fans might like it.

The problem with Absolutely Anything is that when the narrative possesses the power to conjure absolutely anything, the writers obviously drew a blank. Thus we're presented with old tropes of how every person has the same desire of wealth, looks, abundant sex and power. Boring. Plus the film went reaally weird towards the end. A shame this is the note Robin Williams ended his career on.

Monty Python as aliens, Robin Williams as a dog, and Simon Pegg with god-like powers...this film could have been Absolutely Anything. Unfortunately the only things delivered are a mundane plot, a lack of funny jokes, and a waste of a good cast. Very very disappointing!

Simon Pegg, Monty Python and Robin Williams' voice ... but eventually it's a mediocre comedy. My opinion here : http://opinion-as-a-moviefreak.blogspot.be/2016/01/absolutely-anything-2015.html

I liked Simon Pegg. Kate Beckensale was very lovely. The gags were mostly silly. Most anyone would make better wishes if given the power to do absolutely anything. I was not impressed with the aliens, but I did like the twist on their morality at the end. Light hearted, but unfortunately not quite as funny as it should have been. The cast was underutilized & the script was very weak. Still it wasn't a complete waste of time for this somewhat funny but mostly silly low budget romp.

eng; [absolutely anything]; eine gruppe von aliens entscheidet darüber ob die erde zerstört oder in ihre allianz aufgenommen werden soll - doch um das zu entscheiden, bekommt ein mensch testweise die fähigkeit alles zu tun was er will.;

I knew it would be stupid from the trailer, but the cast and premise also meant I had to watch it. It is indeed, very, very stupid - it still has Simon Pegg and an alien voiced by John Cleese though.

The idea is nice, I could see what Simon Pegg liked in the script. However, it felt pretty childish and cheesy, somehow moving away from a comedy and a sci-fi and going into the type of family-friendly dog-talking movie to watch over a Thanksgiving.

It's not bad, the first part is pretty decent but they quickly run out of material and the last half is kind of tired

Entertainment: 5/4 -- laugh out loud funny, and some memorable moments becoming inside jokes. Spirit: 1.5/3. Sustainability: 1/3.

Top badass moment? Simon Pegg getting away with (again) playing the same put-upon character that he's been in every film he's ever appeared in. There's a bigger waste of resources on show here than at my local landfill site. With two stars who've defeated zombies and vampires, it ought to be so much better, but even Scotty can't engineer enough of a miracle to save this movie. Robin Williams as an entirely pointless talking dog sums it up perfectly. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Mostly unfunny, the familiar story plods along. If I had one wish it would be the Simon Pegg would make another good movie.

I found this difficult to rate - I don't know if my score is too high or too low, really. The movie was bizarre, but still funny - in an offbeat sort of way. I definitely think I'd watch it again, but I'd describe it as novel rather than impressive.

Kate Becknsale's accent and Dennis Character were the only thing to made me watch.

Yeah I still like the idea, and at times it executes them well. For the most part however, this movie relies so often on one-note humour, and completely phones in the "drama" that its difficult to widely reccommend

An unoriginal idea that could've been a lot of fun but sadly falls flat through bad acting, many weak jokes, slow pacing and generally bad directing. I honestly expected a lot more from all the comedic talent gathered in this film.

It's objectively bad, but I have a weakness for brit-com and it's a fairly diverting way to spend 90 minutes. A far more enjoyable take on the Bruce Almighty conceit... and tons of identify-the-voice-actor fun.

Absolutely Anything was a lot of fun. It was surprised by all of the talent behind this movie. It was equally funny and sweet. I would definitely watch this movie again. Simon Pegg can play anything in my opinion and his character in this was charming and funny. Kate Beckinsale, who I usually think is about as talented as a washcloth, was very likable in this movie. The voices of the Monty Python gang were funny without taking too much away from the rest of the script.

Not my taste of comedy. Absolutely nothing for me. But, well, some pervert way I kind of liked some of it...

This is the first new movie Terry Jones has had either writing or directing credits in for 19 years, and the first one to feature all the Monty Python alumni since 1983. You'd expect some kind of huge hoopla about something like this, or some kind of genius comedy to warrant the reunion. Unfortunately, "Absolutely Anything" is absolutely unremarkable, it has a premise with the potential to create astoundingly absurd comedy, yet squanders itself with ordinary jokes and a run-of-the-mill plot.

Once the Monty Python crew threw all logic out the window I totally lost interest. If you establish rules that even free will is malleable (something not even Bruce Almighty Nolan achieved), then renege on those rules then all you're left with is more (plot) holes than a swiss cheese factory. And why would you pursue Kate Beckinsale , as hot as she is, so blindly when you could easily clone her a hundred times and even conjure a younger version (still post-op though). Fuck this film.

You know Simon Pegg's work. You know Terry Gilliam's work. Therefore, you know whether you'll like this movie or not

This was pretty much a disappointing dud. It had great potential about a man who was granted to power to do anything. Simon Pegg and Kate Beckinsdale starred.

Unfortunately, a middling comedy from the genius that was Terry Jones, of Monty Python fame. The script is rather cliched and haphazard and the themes highly reminiscent of movies like "Bedazzled" or "Bruce Almighty" without much new to offer. However, the film does have its funny moments, which, although disjointed from the rest and not capitalized on, ensure "Absolutely Anything" is mildly amusing, together with the likable Simon Pegg and the welcome, fun voice cameos of the Python team.
