Abuse of Weakness

Surprisingly tame for what i've come to expect from Breillat, but elevated considerably by yet another outstanding Huppert performance (so good that i almost have to wonder if the film deserves it). Despite being sort of middling and repetitive, it's still definitely more watchable than some of Breillat's earlier stuff. I understand that it's very autobiographical, which i guess excuses how otherwise inconsequential it feels (it also notably isn't a very flattering self-portrait).

Isabelle Huppert. Muhteşem. Yarı felç geçiren ünlü yazar yönetmen, tv'de gördüğü 1 adama tutulur. Adam dolandırıcıdır. Zayıflık konusunu işleyen film, aşkın para ile elinde tutulduğunu anlatıyor. Kool Shen maço rolüyle iyi olsa da, Isabelle Huppert harika 1 performans çıkarmış. Fakat filmin süresi kısa olabilirdi. Gereksiz çok sahne var. Filmin sonunda, paraların hesabı. Nerde yedin paraları söyle söyle? Nerde yedin euroları söyle söyle?

Amo Breillat, mas esse que é basicamente uma autobiografia do que ocorreu com ela depois do AVC acaba sendo o mais domesticado de seus filmes, mas a Huppert está excepcional como usual. Na Mubi.

A step up from some other bourgeois French dramas, e.g. Chabrol bullshit. Huppert is great, as always.
