Accepted (2006)

High school senior Bartleby "B" Gaines is on his way to scoring eight out of eight rejection letters from colleges, which isn't going to go over big with Mom and Dad. At least he's not alone in the exclusion. Several of his crew of outcast friends are in the same, college-less boat. So how does a guy facing a bleak career please his parents and get noticed by dream girl Monica? Simple. Open his own university. (Universal Pictures)

There's a lot of plot holes, cliches, and goofs, but it's entertaining enough for at least on watch. Most of the performances are what one would expect from this kind of movie, accept for Justin Long and Jonah Hill who play their roles perfectly. Lewis Black was fun, I just wish they would have allowed him to cut loose more.

It's basically a combination of every other college movie you've ever seen, except the rejects aren't an outcast frat they are an outcast made up school. The one thing this movie does is amp up the implausibility of every other college movie though. None of this feels any way possible whatsoever. While the plot of this movie is complete shit I will admit it can be quite funny (mainly Jonah Hill and Lewis Black). Also, Blake Lively is nice to look at and this is her most watchable movie.

This is the kind of movie you watch when you get a random day off work and everybody you usually do things with on your day off is busy and its only noon so you can pass off responsibility for a couple hours so you turn on comedy central to watch reruns of Scrubs or South Park or last night's Daily Show and this happens to be on and you assume it can't be the worst movie you've seen on comedy central because they show some really bad ones and it turns out to be just a mediocre film.

This is a hilarious movie with a lot of unexpected things happening. You won't stop laughing during this whole movie. A must see for everyone. Especially those people that applied to colleges but didn't get in.

It is not idiot as it seems, though unreal, is an unpretentious fun movie.

A briliant visual performance by one B-Lively keeps it above 70. I can overlook how Pink casts Greek life in such a dark light, because of solid acting by J-Hill and J-Long (kidding). Here's the question I pondered throughout the film. Could anyone ever pull something like this off? Charlie Bartlett, or maybe Ferris Bueller? Not really sure. This is why I hesitate believing that some clown named Bartleyby James could. Still love the sylubus and the acronyms. Solid showing by L. Black too

Near unbearable comedy has scant laughs because its nonsensical underlying premise is never properly developed in an interesting or vaguely realistic way - "the students become the teachers" could have been an interesting comic idea, but not in the raggedy way it is presented (especially with the toe-curlingly asinine climactic courtroom speech and resolution). At least the cast are a likable bunch and keep it watchable, but its ideas about "higher learning" are embarrassingly juvenile. Ugh.

Stupid plot, unbelieveable characters, daft situations, corny taglines, ridiculous stereotypes, predicatable story, formulaic ending ... but a hugely enjoyable "feelgood" comedy with some great laughs, great girls and great music ... thats all it offers to do, and it does it in shit loads!! Really good, natural performances by Justin Long, Blake Lively and Jonah Hill. I really liked their characters, and hey ... I already said it was daft .... I am just glad it was also really good fun.

Some of the jokes are good. Some of them are not. I could write an essay about it in relation to higher education politics, but I mean... It's an early 2000s comedy.
