For better or worse, this is exactly the kind of movie you'd expect a former stuntman to make. The plot and characters are basic to the point of irrelevance, but, in our dark days of CGI and green-screened everything, seeing actual human beings perform a bunch of fantastic death-defying stunts is nourishing to the soul. Not a good movie, but a fantastic viewing experience.

"Action U.S.A."(1989) certainly delivers what its generic 80's action movie title promises. Actor/stunt performer/stunt-coordinator, John Stewart in his directorial debut, delivers plenty of stunt filled action set in the most 'MERICAN place possible, Texas. However outside of all the fun action, the mostly generic everything else, like the story or characters, seems either cliche or cartoonish, to where it feels like parody at times. Although overall, still a solid enough action B-movie.

It’s great to come across this kind of underseen 80's action films that I had no idea existed. The lead actors may lack the charisma of bigger stars, but they get the job done with solid support from seasoned professionals like Cameron Mitchell and William Smith - and especially Ross Hagen who steals the show as “Drago”. The film’s biggest asset is still the amazing stuntwork which challenges much bigger productions. Fun times.

All points are for the stunts and the actions scenes.
