Exposes both the challenges and the attitudes. Despite all efforts, it seems that in many cases no better solution to the need for work can be realised other than to perform extremely simple repetitive labour, that is, to become a very small part of a larger machine. Highlight is probably the boardroom meeting, where all manner of contradictory views are aired and fail to be resolved, in a particularly "American" way. Nevertheless, the staff are generally helpful and patient: doing their best.

The third of Wiseman's four films dedicated to documenting the institutional schooling of those who are deaf, blind and multi-handicapped (which is not to say that these individuals are defined by these handicaps). This is not a film about the 'special' measures needed to 'accommodate' sensory-impaired students, but rather a film about pedagogy. These students and teachers do what needs to be done in order to learn, with these pedagogies valuable for all who want to learn.
