An indie dramedy that meanders for 90 minutes before finishing with a soft whimper. The film is dull, despite a great cast, because the comedy isn't funny and the drama isn't interesting.

Just totally meh. Kind of reminded me of "Seinfeld" sans the humor...a film about nothing. "Adult Beginners" appeared on the surface to have potential but just seemed to kind of fall flat.

It's a sitcom setup that husband-and-wife screenwriters Jeff Cox and Liz Flahive manage to (almost) cover with a fresh coat of funny and touching.

Great chemistry among the cast. Not great, but not bad. The kind of movie where you know what you are going to get.

Kroll was better than expected, but Adult Beginners is not that original, nor that funny, nor that deep; it's just very, very average.

A bunch of very talented actors elevate a script with interesting ideas that it never explores past surface levels. I definitely enjoyed it, but I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot most of it in a month.

Average dramedy; it's not particularly funny - and it doesn't really utilize the potential for comedy that you would expect based on the synopsis. But It doesn't really go that deep into drama either. It's the kind of story that feels better suited for mini-series than a movie. Byrne is likeable as always and Kroll and co. are OK in their roles.
