Viewed March 22, 2022. The main theme of Marlon Riggs's work is the way images influence public perception and policy, and so this straightforward short is his way of putting some positive representation into the world. It opens with a gay Black man telling a story about his first love, and follows it with some footage shot at a pride march. For Riggs and the other men featured on screen, this film is a simple but powerful declaration of their personhood.
