As the life of young Anna Taylor (Christina Ricci) hangs precariously in the balance, a funeral director (Liam Neeson) with a mysterious ability to help the dead transition to the afterlife has complete control over her fate. Meanwhile, her distraught boyfriend (played by Justin Long) is still grieving the loss of Anna. Though it's possible she isn't dead after all, it's equally possible that she's already in hell in this macabre thriller.

The idea is good and Neeson does a fine job, but the script is just awful. Predictable, not nearly as ambiguous as it's trying to be and full of holes.

This Film makes you ask 100 questions, Then rolls credits without answering a single one. Could have been a 95 if the writer had bothered to write an ending for this movie!!!!

This is a very strange film. This actually had potential to be a very good film but fell short of the mark. The performance of liam neeson is excellent and christina ricci plays a good part however the acting is better than the script. The ending makes very little sense and its possible that the director wanted to leave us guessing but that is the films downfall. There is only 2 possible outcomes and either could be applied to the ending and that just doesnt work at all for me!

So.. we're supposed to believe Christina Ricci's character can barely unlock a door (using the correct keychain) in the time it takes Neeson to get to his car, drive to a gas station, fill it up, pay for the gas, and drive back home? Hilarious. Oh, yeah, and the rest of the movie is just as much of a mess. Couldn't even be salvaged by Ricci being naked half the time. Crazy, right? I know!

Liam Neeson is eerily creeping in this psychological thriller. Ricci does not act at all in this film, which brings it down a bit. Long however does a fantastic job of playing the boyfriends as grieving yet borderline insane. I must give props to Chandler Canterbury for playing the most interesting character in the film. After.Life is creepy, it is not so much scary but it plays on your thoughts about life and death. Very eerie, Liam Neeson was the best choice for the character.

After.Life sufficiently creeped me out, but it isn't actually a great film. It has a great premise and the atmosphere really works, but the characters are flat and the story quickly loses momentum as it draws to a close. There are some good things wasted, and it has difficulty keeping you engaged with its thought-provoking questions. It's good, but not great, and only really interesting in its early stages.

The idea of the movie was worth to explore, but they did not build enough interesting story to support the plot. Who was really cheating who? There was also a lot of open nudity with Christina Ricci.

I got really stoned before I watched this movie, which made the whole concept of having to come to terms with your own death via your mortician, kind of a mindfuck. That idea itself at least creeped me out a bit. At one point I told my fiance, "This movie would be less terrible if it were only the exchanges between Neeson and Ricci". In that sense, I sorta liked the plot.... until they muddied it up with the whole "is she dead, is she not dead" crap. Also, fuck Justin Long.

Well made but not necessarily good. The premise is intriguing but not much is done with it. Not sure what I was expecting but this didn't do it for me.

I wasn't expecting a masterpiece, even though I'd heard some good things, but I didn't think it would be this dumb. I don't have much to say about it, really. It lost me at the absurd mirror scene, which actually made me laugh, and it was pretty much downhill from there.

It isn't so intense or frightening as you would wish, what makes it a bad horror but pretty good drama tho. The acting of main actors are pretty good but I'm afraid directors put too much attention just on acting and whole plot are not supported of any good ideas...

The film has an interesting premise and a creepy Liam Neeson to its credit. That's all. Absolutely nothing interesting is done with the material, and almost none of it is even remotely believable. I liked questioning whether or not Ricci's character was alive or dead, but so little happens in this horrifically slow film, and not a single piece of it makes any sense---even for the genre.

While Neeson and Long are as entertaining as ever, the film never lives up to its intriguing premise. Ricci mumbles her way through her dialogue, the story is poorly executed and questions are left far too ambiguous.

Started strong, stilted almost lynch-style dialogue and some nice visuals, then became predictable psych-thriller and spent too much time setting-up sequels -or at least a feeling of continuation.

Dark horror and while not particularly frightening, its an engaging piece. Neeson demands all of the attention.

Starts off strong with a great premise but fails to do anything with it. Really starts to fall apart in the second half with ridiculous melodrama and poorly planned scenes. While in many films leaving the ending ambiguous or as a mystery or open to interpretation can be good, considering the whole film hangs on this point it's just unsatisfying not to resolve it and feels like a pretentious reach towards hoping for interpretations to make it seem deeper than it is.

I will once again sing the praises of Liam Neeson, who at this point can do no wrong. Serial killer? Hard to say. I'm also a big Justin Long fan, and it doesn't hurt that, even though she's supposed to be dead (or is she?), Christina Ricci spends much of the movie naked. Points. There's some pseudo-horror wonk to be found; a couple of scenes are a little too "what the fuck?" for my taste. At its core, a slow-built, creepy, cerebral flick that falls a bit short of greatness. Worth seeing, though.

Although some of the concepts held potential, the characterisation was too weak, the thrills were insufficiently effective, and the whole thing was just a little too silly. After this debut, the director seems to have gone into commercials, and her screenwriter husband became a business consultant of some kind: whatever works.

Mostly enjoyed the movie and there are good performances from Neeson and Ricci. Christina is half naked for quite a bit of the movie also which doesn't hinder things.

Okay, I only watched this to the end because Justin Long is beautiful. If only he spent as much time naked here (or any time...hello!) as Christina Ricci does. This might have been a decent flick if the writers and director had been more intelligent. As it is, all we have are a bunch of false clues and muddled metaphors.

An absurd, goofy, virtually suspenseless "thriller" with one of the worst screenplays of the year. Conversations sound like nothing any human being has ever uttered and character motivations swing wildly and nonsensically from scene to scene. However, keep your eyes peeled for the hilarious moment where Justin Long hits a little kid in the face.

Although slow the film is intriguing and sexy at the same time. It is a interesting point of veiw on death and possibly life. But interesting did not progress to inspiring or insightful. Great script for an independent film with no budget, it's almost sad that they paid big money for actors because everything else could come cheap.

Really weak. Without giving spoilers I can only say that after watching it you aren't left with the feeling that a mysterious question has been answered, nor with the feeling that an interesting question has been left unanswered. You are just left with the feeling that you have watched a lot of fuss over nothing for an hour and a half.

Decent idea, let down by a poor script which drops too many hints for the semi-final twist to be much of a twist. The supposedly ambiguous ending felt forced, because by the time it came around we were pretty sure how it was going to end, and none of the vagueness changed our opinion. What's left is a watchable, slow-paced psycho chiller, played superbly by Neeson. Ricci is not at her best here but compensates by being nude a lot.

Clichés at every corner, a stupid and predictable script that made no sense. The only reason this movie was made was to have an excuse to show Christina Ricci half naked most of the time.

I found it strange that the only person that was consistent and maintain a bit of believability was Liam Neeson's character. Stoic and committed to his ideals, he seemed the only one that I could believe. Pro: Great concept. Liam Neeson. Radiohead. Con: Slow. Unbelievable characters and storylines. Overuse of the hollywood orange/blue colour theme.

PROS: Fascinating plot/story, some great nudity, and an ending I couldn't predicted. CONS: The plot has a lot of underlying meaning, but the writer lacks both the intelligence and the tact to deliver it, so the over the top/corny dialog is sometimes hard to listen to. OVER-ALL: I'd give it a B+
