Aftermath 1987 - I went nuts at the part where Arnie ripped the airplane propeller off with his bare hands and cut Udo Kier in half right down the middle and going "Slice to meet you". Aftermath 2017 - Arnold cries a few times.

In a world where Australian green berets kidnap 80s teen idols, snake cult orgies serve as a front for cannibalistic rituals, criminals are forced to participate in game shows for their freedom, and aliens from outer-space hunt the most dangerous game, Schwarzenegger does none of those, and opts instead to softly weep into his working-man's lunch pail (brought to you by Coleman, the Outdoor Company).

I guess it got to me a little more than others, it seems. While Arnold isn't giving a truly great performance, he's basically as good as he's going to get, which is still pretty damn good. I enjoyed the slow build for the most part and the tonal shift didn't come across as forced or unnecessary; it gelled well and felt fitting. It can get a little tedious here and there, but it said what it needed to say and the final music that plays was really effective. Underrated.

Aftermath is a dull, dreary drama that wants to get somewhere and say something but doesn't know how, resulting in a film with a late-game tonal shift and a feeling of pointlessness after it's all over. Arnold Schwarzenegger was the wrong lead actor for the role, the story doesn't fit into the 90-minute time frame - at least, not the way it's been framed and paced here - and it ends with a scene too silly to take seriously. It's disappointing.

Attempting to dive deep into the effects of the event, the movie only really scratches the surface of what it could have done. Unfortunately that is often the case with shorter movies, there is hardly any room for scaled out character development. It is sombre and sad that it is about it when it is all over with.

I think my low rating is mostly about my incorrect expectations. The movie summary on a popular streaming provider ended with "the only thing he has left: revenge". Thus I kept waiting for something to happen, or a conspiracy to unfold. Instead, I was met with a long-drawn narrative on how pepole deal with grief. The acting was good, the movie just slow.

It's not a great film and I wasn't satisfied with the ending. For those who feel that Arnold Schwarzenegger can't act, this film (in my opinion) will prove them wrong.

Based on the 2002 Überlingen mid-air collision is like a sad Terminator film. Lesson learned: if Arnold Schwarzenegger rings at your door. Don't fucking open it.

Arnold Schwarzenegger yaşlandı ve Hollywood onu yok sayıyor sanırım. Böyle aktörler, aktrisler neden böylesine rezalet filmlerde oynatılıyor, oynuyor anlamıyorum? Bu yorumu görüyorsanız filmi izlemeyin. B değil, C değil, K tipi film falan sanırım. O derece düşük.

About 99% less violent than I expected. I was actually kept in some amount of suspense through most of the film, so I can't in good conscience give it a terrible rating, but ultimately it never goes beyond a blurb to sum up the two characters' trauma. Of course, it then culminates in the most uninteresting and unearned way possible, and the thing with the journalist character is real dumb. I thought Arnold was adequate in the role, though; seems like I'm in the minority there. 34th film of 2018.

Though terribly moving, stories of ultimate grief like this one can never truly fit the standard Hollywood blueprint. This film's attempt produces an awkward resolution that is neither climactic nor meaningful.

Interesting, thought provoking drama is perhaps unexpectedly slow and somber for the most part, before a gory climax followed by a strange, nonsenical epilogue, but its meditations on grief and anger are effectively portrayed, even if the intercutting between Schwarzenegger and McNairy doesn't add much resonance to the story. Schwarzenegger proves yet again he can be a fine (and creditable) dramatic actor in the right role, and McNairy is equally affecting.

I thought it was interesting to see Schwarzenegger in a different role once. Turns out he is not the best actor...Aftermath is very slow and the only reason you keep watching is because you want to know where it is going. Turns out it's nowhere, really. That being said, I appreciated how it showed that the person responsible is not always the bad guy and there is always more to the story than you think. 40/100.

The film started off strong and both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Scoot McNairy give strong performances but the last 15 minutes ruins the whole film.

Interesting movie with Arnold acting instead of blowing things up. Very slow, with no suspense except for the fact of wondering where exactly you are going. Sometimes when something happens you really just only want to hear someone sympathize and say they are sorry.

aaaw, the good ol' american moral standard. you can fuck up any way you want, as long as you're really sorry afterwards. well, nobody apologized for boring me to death with this pointless, uninspired lamentation extravaganza, so i guess i have every right to go and kill elliott lester now.
