Suspicion: Airheads was written sometime in the late 80's and sat on the shelf only to be minimally tweaked later for its year of release. With the exception of White Zombie's cameo, it doesn't even remotely resemble the rock music world of the mid 90's. It's as if grunge never happened. It would have made more sense to make these characters desperately clueless hair metal hangovers. As it stands, it's a marginally funny comedy that gets by on the strength of its talented cast. Nothing more.

There's a few funny moments, and I love Steve Buscemi regardless of whatever stupid bullshit is going on around him.

Three stoned metalheads take over a radio station by force in order to get their demo tape played on the air, and somehow (despite being dangerously stupid and borderline psychopathic terrorists) they manage to become heroes that everyone loves. Unbearably dumb.

This movie for sure is a guilty pleasure, but it is so for a lot of people so maybe it isn't so bad. I don't' know what it is, maybe the goofy characters, maybe the easy going plot, maybe the good casting, maybe the "stick it to the man" teenager dream story, but probably all of the above. The bad is obvious so I am not going to name it, just enjoy the entertaining value of the film.

If this was Sandler, Buscemi or Fraser on their own then it would not work, but as a trio they make for very entertaining viewing (it's never dull). The vibrant supporting cast (Farley, McKean, Arquette among others) really lifts the film.

Conceptually, Airheads is not far from most Adam Sandler films, although this is definitely not a regular Sandler vehicle. Joined by Brendan Fraiser and Steve Buschemi, the trio plays a fluttering rock band so desperate for success, they overtake a radio station and hold the station for the ransom of a shot at the big time. A bit formulaic and predictable, this is still a fun time on a Friday night with a bunch of friends.

I watched this again recently, since it was a guilty pleasure in high school. the film has its moments, but a lot of it is painfully bad. The girlfriend is a terrible actress, Fraser and Mantegna are laughably unconvincing as rockers, and the music itself is uneven in terms of quality. I do like Buscemi and McKean, here, and Sandler surprisingly improves all the scenes he's in.

This is actually a pretty good, well cast film. Don't go into this movie with high expectations and you won't be disappointed. This is light weight stuff, but doesn't pretend to be otherwise. Brendan Fraser is perfectly (type-)cast here and anything with Steve Buscemi is enjoyable to watch.

A staple on Comedy Central in the afternoons, it's actually a bit better than it should be on paper thanks to the outlandish plot and a few of the cameos. Hell, even David Arquette has a funny line in it ("bozo deluxe").

The premise is just far enough out there that it becomes brilliant. The execution is uneven, but it hits more often than it misses with the jokes. Sandler is surprisingly subdued, and Buscemi is awesome. Funny, and a bit of a guilty pleasure.

I don't feel the hate for Fraser and Sandler that others feel. And being that I enjoy Buscemi even in a mediocre film like this I would say its worth watching, but I would definitely say that if any of the main 3 is annoying to you regardless of the movie(which is more than understandable) pass on it.

The plot actually sounds entertaining, a rock band hi-jacks a radio station to get there song played. Too bad it was made so poorly, and most of the blame falls on the actors. The normally funny Steve Buscemi seemed like he phoned in this performance. Adam Sandler's character is like a less funny version of "The Waterboy". The rest of the performers for the most part were just ok. As for the movie, the only scenes that were laugh out loud funny were the ones with Michael Richards.

I figured the last few movies I watched were so good, I needed to balance it out. Where to begin. Well Sandler and Fraser are at their usual levels, although I love Farley and Buscemi. The script was pretty terrible, headed by a weird concept. Also, this just felt like every other stoner, rock comedy that came out in the last 20 years, without the fun. This is like the bad SNL version, without awesomeness, Bill and Ted.

Silly, disposable comedy is fun for its eclectic casting, though its riffs on DOG DAY AFTERNOON just made me wish I was actually watching the better movie! Don't look for much credibility or sustenance here, with the casts good spirits helping to prop up an ultimately sagging and repetitive narrative; perhaps surprisingly it is Sandler who steals the film, with a lovely and sweet portrait of naïve guilelessness, contrasting with the more brashly cynical Buscemi and Fraser.

"Airheads" pairs an unconventional hostage situation with three wannabe rock stars' wide-eyed tenacity. Though the satire could be more biting and the laughs more frequent, the desire to be heard resonates, as does Chazz's idealism, and the script doesn't settle for the full-blown hero moment it's building up to, but subverts it via the record contract's catch. Fraser, Buscemi and Spinal Tap legend Michael McKean stand out from the solid cast; also good to see White Zombie, great cameo by Lemmy.

Airheads is a dumb fun movie. I had some funny moments but it doesn't have much in the way of substance. This movie can be thought of as one of the first Happy Madison movies because so many of the regulars are here as well as a ton of SNL regulars. Movies don't get much more 90's than this but it is fun as a nostalgia trip. The plot is basic but it's fun to root for these fun-loving idiots. It's not something that I'd watch again and again but I've seen it a few times and it's still good.
