Opens with a killer car wash scene in broad daylight that sets your expectations high for the rest of the movie - and the kills deliver, they don’t cut away from the axe thwacks but ... they take a total backseat to the wild amount of subplots and characters this throws at you. The best scene in the movie has the nerd bringing a girl into his room to show off his computer and has her ask the computer anything - she types in a question and it crashes. “I asked it if you were gay”

Everything here is subpar and it takes much too long for anything interesting to happen.

Solid slasher flick with some neat countryside shots. I'm not sure if the last act made any sense.

While this slasher is decently directed, the acting is above par and it has a good creepy looking axe murderer, it suffers from being very badly written. There is no clear relation between the (random) murders in the town and the protagonists, which means the murders have no dramatic weight and the "normal" scenes feel like filler. Even more it ends with twist ending, that's so out of nowhere that's it unclear of it's the truth or a scheme by the real killer.

The Edge of the Chat would also apply as the brand new technology of computer to computer communication plays a strangely large part of the story. I liked just about everybody in this and the car wash opening is a blast. From the director of Black Candles, a movie I've never recommended to anyone outside of this site because I'm pretty sure the eye contact would shame me for a millennium.

The killer looks neat. That's...kind of it, though. Between the bad characters, bare-bones plot, completely unbelievable final twist, & ridiculous (but hilarious) use of 80's technology, all on top of really formulaic & basic kills, this is substandard slasher fare at best that does nothing to stand out & doesn't really deserve to be called a hidden gem. It's honestly a slog to watch, which is always a shame. There's potential here, but the end result never lives up to it. Skippable.
