Al tropico del cancro

Even more confusing than your usual Giallo. It's main asset is the Haiti setting; It's nicely shot and at times crosses over to Mondo territory with its ceremonies and animal slaughtering. It still doesn't utilize voodoo as much as you'd expect, nor take full use of its super-drug Macguffin. There's only one hallucinatory dream sequence - which admittedly is effective. Spaghetti Western star Steffen is rather bland while Strindberg is underused, but still brings nice contrast. Good soundtrack.
