Alex and Emma (2003)
Alex Sheldon (Wilson) is an author whose writer's block is the least of his problems - he also happens to be flat broke and owes Cuban loan sharks $100,000. Desperate, Alex secures the services of opinionated stenographer Emma Dinsmore (Hudson) to help him complete his novel and get paid by his publisher in time to save his skin. (Warner Bros.)

Looks like film makers have also owe some cash to loan sharks. Film is made with a rush and not putting any deeper thoughts on it. The most positive way through the movie is, how it shows family relationships

Easily forgettable. This isn't a bad film and Wilson and Hudson do have some chemistry. Just poor screenplay with some bad execution.

This was fairly unique in the way it flowed between stories. Unfortunately I had a hard time really relating to the characters and/or rooting for them. But, I was curious to see how things ended up and I enjoyed the "insights" into an author's brain :)

For what it's worth I thought the story was pretty original, and I loved the idea of the characters writing themselves into the novel. It's like a combination of a time travel period drama with magical realism. The let down was that Wilson & Hudson had poor chemistry (Hudson seems to be always chemically inert) and the writing all came unstuck towards the end. A decent effort, marred by the casting.

The argument of the film is well prepared, but the actors do not support the main story as would necessary. It has some moments but the script has passages confused, despite being well linear and predictable.
