Alias a Gentleman

Alias a Gentleman (1948) came at the dying days of Wallace Beery. Sick, frail and clearly showing his age, Beery could still do what made him a success. The lovable brute turning rich, then a fellow crook hires a actress to pretend to be his long-lost daughter to get the cash. Didn't feel the rest of the casting worked optimally, but Leon Ames was a slick figure as his rival. Not that a Beery vehicle relies on much else than Beery himself, and he fought to deliver on his end.
