An unnecessary, late, and dull sequel to a movie that wasn't very good in the first place, Alice Through the Looking Glass features characters you won't care about, locations less enjoyable than the original, a plot that meanders and is as mundane as they come, and a central theme that makes you feel bad for wasting your time on this nonsense. Alice Through the Looking Glass has been made because the first made money, and when monetary reasons dominate creative ones, the result is never good.

Suffers from the same issues as the first movie, but without even really a point to it. The world which is supposed to be vibrant and alive is inhabited by about 8 main characters and 100 others that don't matter in any way. All journeys are just running into the same 8 people over and over for no real reason. The visuals were excellent at times but the plot was a stinker.

It's incredible that what was arguably Tim Burton's very worst film was deemed worthy of a sequel, helmed by a worse director, and drenched in godawful CGI.

Exceptional production quality. Interesting actors and very good performances. Mia Wasikowska was marvelous. The writing was quite fanciful, humorous, imaginative and sometimes bizarre. Engaging and entertaining. Excellent music. The action was way over the top. Clever costumes. The fantasy elements were a roller coaster ride of excitement.

It is nice to see the cast mostly returning. It certainly has a little different style without Burton on the reins. The sets and CG are once again well done with tons of colour, as it should be with such a fantastical story. The story does seem to jump around a bit, but whatever, it may have been on purpose.

Hmm, wayyy too many haters for this movie! I thought it was brilliant! It was like watching The Never Ending Story - what fantasy! I mean, who would ever think about making such awesome special effects. I thought it was very creative, plus some cool acting by Depp, Bonham Carter and Baron Cohen :D. To all the haters: watch it again and this time look at all the Fantasy :)

Maybe if I had never seen a sequel about reconnecting with family before, but Luke, Aladdin, Po, Dory, and the Great Gonzo have done it. And time travel? That's what Star Trek does when they run out of ideas.

Less said about the plot, the better, except that the Wonderland parts are slightly less formulaic than in the first movie. The effects are just stunning, I like the even darker and more grotesque tone and I've always been a huge sucker for clockwork aesthetics. Extra points goes to Andrew Scott, but the same amount are taken because of the awful popsong over the credits. Stop it!

I didn't hate this; in fact, I rather enjoyed it. Alice Through the Looking Glass is ridiculous, unnecessary, funny nonsense. The first scene is dreadfully bad, but once in Wonderland the film picks up. Although the film is quite moralistic, it's nice to see a film that doesn't just set up the villain for defeat and actually portrays the protagonists in a not all too flattering light. This sequel isn't great, but it's a visual treat (especially if you like clockwork) and it's fun. Cohen is MVP

Unnecessary follow-up to Alice in Wonderland (2010) that's sort of fun anyway in it's wonderland mentality and stunning visuals. They made a simple story complicated, which is why it had it's headaches, but with such a star studded graphics extravaganza Disney delivers something for the entire family.

After all the scurrying, scampering and time traversing, the Mad Hatter and his solicitous crew of saviors let us know that a family is something to treasure, that every day should be a valued gift of seconds, minutes and hours. Even the stomp-her-feet-and-rant Red Queen makes clear that family "forgivenesses" and "I'm sorrys" are far finer fare than fibs. It's hard to get too contrariwise about that.

Aaaw it was as beautiful as I hoped it would be. The movie's amazingly animated and takes you into a whole other world. I love how it tackles the time theme in an interesting aspect and personifies the time. Just loved it!

Nothing like the books or even the first movie. It's just a cut and paste mishmash, with music that's only noticeable because it's so obnoxiously boilerplate. I think it's time to stick a fork in Johnny Depp and otherwise it's a waste of talent.

Entirely style over substance, the writing is shite, the plot is garbled nonsense, the character design is just sort of ridiculous without anything to back it up. Really wound me up for no reason.

The film of the knockoff game. The designs are still great but there is a heavy blanket of contractual obligation to it. A real lack of wonder here.

Anytime time travel gets involved it ruins some great films. This almost happened here except the movie wasn't the best to begin with and the tangle of plot made it worse.

Unfortunate gutting of Carroll's sequel and characters completely ignores the novel's fun and surreal chess game plot, which wouldn't be so bad if the substitution of a mawkish, undercooked backstory for Depp's Hatter was mildly interesting or charming. Set design is stomach churning in its garishness, and the whole enterprise feels like a sad, soulless parody of Tim Burton in fantasy mode. Wasikowska does her best, but the rest of the cast is pitched at the level of bad infant school pantomime.

It doesn't happen too often that a sequel is ranked higher than the first movie. With Alice Through The Looking Glass however it has happened. Not that there is something special about it, it actually is very predictable and CGI is very (and I mean very) much used. But it passed along just fine. 52/100.

Bobin did as good a job as can be expected within the world Burton already established. The story's nothing special - just a typical time travel plot. It looks like Wasikowska & Carter were the only ones who really gave a crap. Cohen is serviceable but gives a familiar performance of a dull character. The CGI overload aesthetic isn't really my thing, but you can tell a lot of work went into it. It's a competent if generic movie, but I think I'll forget that I saw it in a few months time.

The magic is missing in this sequel, as is Burton, replaced in the director's chair by James Bobin (Muppets Most Wanted). Most wanted here is easy charm to counteract the hard sell. Everything is too much, making the movie look like Willy Wonka threw up all over his chocolate factory. The script by Linda Woolverton stays surface faithful to the characters created by Lewis Carroll, but the film has lost its soul.

At least it wasn't like walking over glass. This movie sequel took a long time to come around, 6 years after the last movie. I loved some parts of this film and others I found to be pretty strange. The most unbelievable thing was the time period and Alice's job. She's like a military-style boat Captain that goes sailing on adventures. She has an entire crew of men but this film is set in the 1800's...

It does not have a direct narrative that is worth following. It sends a bunch of colours and extreme visuals your way but it does nothing in the realm of story and character progression. It all felt flat and lifeless which is the opposite of the message attempted to be conveyed. Depp did hold a bit of my interest but ultimately this film just did not hold up.

On par with the first film, which is to say interesting themes with decently entertaining adventure subsumed by an overabundance of style and a distracting Depp performance. It's ok, and has some fun parts, but the aggressive visual design does get tiring, as do the the moments of sappy morality.

It was definitely better that I expected, especially since the first one was not my cup of tea. Saw it in IMAX so it was a visual treat, quite weak in terms of plot though. Sascha was great and also Helena B-C, even though they were certainly overacting in some scenes. Great costumes and some nice CGI overall. Glad Burton did not direct this and even better that Depp does not have too much screen time.

The sequel (to a movie I found quite enjoyable) lacks its predecessors flow, which could make you overlook its flaws.
It's primary flaw is that it is sadly predictable in it's details, where surprising details seem to be very important to such a movie.
PS.: 16:9? Really? Looks ... weird in a cinema

Its bad when the plot for an Alice in Wonderland movie is filled with logical errors and completely dumb plot devices designed to try and move the story along. The movie feels like a first draft of a script that was never fully thought out. Sacha Baron Cohen steals the movie as Time though. I loved his character and his portrayal. Scenery was cool too.
