Uneven as all get out, but I have to give props to any kids movie with the guts to go this dark and weird... [Big-Lipped Alligator Moment]

This is a scuzzy, nasty piece of work. I counted in the first 20 minutes: a prison break, guns, smoking, gambling, drunkenness, prostitution, some weirdness with an underage girl, kidnapping, murder, and some lying and cheating (in heaven!). Point being, for a kids movie, it has its redemptive qualities.

Really dark revenge animation with dogs. While this may sound stupid, this film contains all of the qualities to a good movie.

A classic Don Bluth film, with some memorable moments. However, the bar has been raised for animation, and this film will slowly and surely succumb to the effects of time.

It feels contrived throughout, from the musical numbers to the deus ex machina plot twists. At their worst, these combined together result in the infamous Big Lipped Alligator Moment, which really showcases the weaknesses of the film. Despite this, though, the animation, dark themes, and the nice handling of the second death scene make this worth watching.

Feels a bit off at times, like the narration and the animation. The songs are meh, not bad, not great either. Don't know why the hell they added the croc part, it's too random and weird. Not a bad movie, but certainly not a great one either.

I liked it a lot as a kid, and can be a way to introduce some more mature themes to a child. But it's just not enjoyable past age 10.

Take that Disney! To this very day, I still love this movie. I watch it every now and again when I feel a little down...yea, sounds weird. I love Itchy! ^_^ Does kind of depress ya a little bit though, it's rather dark for a childrens movie, but good nonetheless.

After being forced to watch this movie one too many times as child, I can safely say that it lacks any joy or wonder. The world is ugly and unappealing (as are most of the characters) and the songs are just awful. While I'm not a believer in sugarcoating things just because they are meant for kids, the overall tone is exceedingly dark. This pile of nightmare fuel continues to make me leery about viewing Bluth's other films.

Besides "The Secret of NIMH", this is Don Bluth at his best. It's interesting to watch nowadays just to see how dark it is by todays standards.

Great film for children who want more than the average fare. It has some pretty adult themes which sets it above the rest. Technically excellent all around as well.

Bluth's animation is excellent as usual, but an extremely dark tale for children and not really all that interesting for adults.

A solid animated flick from Don Bluth. Unless you hate dogs.

One of the better non-Disney, family-oriented animations. Great voice acting and smooth animation compliment a decent story.

A clever and hearwarming tale about the importance of friendship, All Dogs Go to Heaven is one of the greatest non-Disney animated features. The voice acting is notably terrific as well. Really good!

it has a very characteristic animation style and I liked the characters Charlie B Barkin and Anne-Marie, but that's about it. Too much singing, and the quality of the songs is poor. It contains some rather disturbing elements as well, I mean an alligator singing opera??, and the devil is way too scary for a children's movie. An alternative for disney, but rather a mediocre one.

Another brilliant classic by animator Don Bluth, All Dogs Go to Heaven is equal parts ambitious, heartwarming, and substantial. Don't fall for the cutesy animation though, it's darker than the usual "family" flick.

Hypnotically bizarre, grimy and sleazy kiddie film takes the seedier tonal moments of AN AMERICAN TAIL and runs with them; not sure how well advised the strategy was, but it gives the film a unique vibe, making it fun to watch (and all this before Reynolds starts singing!) Surreal digressions make it all the stranger; held together by the well practiced Reynolds and DeLuise repartee. A film flying this close to the sun can never be “great”, but props to Bluth for putting it all out there.

What hurts this movie are the bad bad musical numbers, and the completely random and offbeat moments just breaking the story. The music just sucked, the dancing and attempt at magic musical is just offputting and ugly. The alligator and random murder attempts with no follow-ups seem out of fever dreams. The character design are ugly, even with the puppies meant to be cute. Children might like it, I think as a kid I saw nothing wrong with it. Adults might suffer.
