Unheralded Bogart gem with a great supporting cast, snappy dialogue (Bogey in the auction scene) and some laughs all moving along at a brisk pace. Worth a watch.

Inoffensive, propaganda-themed ridiculousness that almost works as a noir parody. The main problem is that the humor is excessive and dated.

Man, if it had just been a little weirder, it would have been great. As is, a somewhat bizarrely funny bit of propagandistic gumshoe pulp.

Bogey looks great in this film, perhaps the handsomest I've ever seen him. He moves confidently with an interesting sense of humor throughout the film. Kaaren Verne, the love interest, is lovely, teary-eyed and a decent actress. Peter Lorre is his usual slimy self and Conrad Veidt plays the bad guy. There's some dumb stuff in here, including a ridiculous fight scene and some lame dialogue, but overall it's an interesting, somewhat suspenseful film. It's really a 57 but it gets a Bogey bump.

A weird, charming little comedy. Broadway baddie Bogart tracks down the Nazis who kidnapped the baker who makes his favorite cheesecake.

Rousing gangster comedy that once again asserts that even the worst American criminal would do no dealings with the Nazis. Excellent supporting work helps overcome a flimsy as hell premise; the scene where Bogart must impersonate a German spy is especially inspired.

One of Humphrey Bogart lighter danger films. Here he accidentally gets caught in the middle a Nazi spy ring for a happy patriotic bust! Has some good action scenes, quite a few laughs and a terrific cast. Of course with such a light approach one doesn't get the most out of it, but it's still a very entertaining picture with a little of everything, including two of the screens most dangerous men, Conrad Veidt & Peter Lorre, making life difficult for Bogy.
