A quaint film, not worried about wowing the audience with spectacle, but rather just presenting itself with what it's got. Much more accessible and focused than Jost's other films, sometimes weirdly reminding me of the TV show 'Girls' -- just goes to show how realistic (but not neo-realistic) this film is.

Very dull. It doesn't help that this production is so cheap that the image itself looks like crap

Odd film, difficult to know what to make of it. Jost has an idiosyncratic style that upsets expectations of what should happen in a movie. I know there are some who read all sorts of things into this about money and art, love and commerce, but its elusiveness is both the film's allure and aloofness.

Entirely improvised and made without a plot outline this is way more about mood than plot. The basic plot there is is about a guy and a woman meeting in a Vermeer gallery. The mood it creates is about loneliness, the search for connection and the search for meaning in life in art. The improvised dialogues are reminiscent of Cassavetes while Jost directing style in contrast is Rohmeresque formalistic.

Anonymity in the big city. Hidden little treasures everywhere. Waiting to be discovered.
