If you can tell the color of M&M's just from the taste than you can probably distinguish this from Along Came A Spider.

James Patterson, like Stephen King, often has to deal with second-rate film making. James Patterson, unlike Stephen King, is a second-rate author.

Absurdly silly thriller is proof positive that, while Freeman has been in bad movies, he rarely gives a bad performance; he manages to deliver a compelling performance even as the screenplay puts him through absurdly stupid scenarios (the payphone chase bit needs to be retired permanently!) The inclusion of a graphically distressed child in the middle of this makes it tough to stomach as disposable entertainment - Boorem is still good here though, and outshines most of her co-stars.

I was laughing my ass off at the opening car crash because it was just so hilariously over the top. I guessed the kidnapper within a second of him being on screen due to his terrible disguise, while laughing at how poor this makeup was. This only redeeming quality was Morgan Freeman and a twist that I didn't see coming. Still didn't make it much better than the other generic thrillers out at the time though.

A generic detective thriller that's a disappointing adaptation of the far more interesting book. Morgan Freedman and Monica Potter's talents are wasted in this forgettable thriller

I started reading James Patterson when I was 12 (probably says something about the simplicity of the writing and why I'm fucked up), and one thing can be said of his books, they are engaging. He does make a nice web, sympathetic heros, and psychopathic villains. This was just dull compared to the book. Note: I saw these things about Patterson's writing despite not having read one of his books is about 5 or so years.

It seems that after Seven, Freeman was typecast into a ton of movies like this. The problem is that over time they all kinda blend together and it's hard to remember which one is this again. This flick was decent enough, just nothing special.

Another film in the spirit of "Se7en" with an nice idea for a plotline, but somewhat loses momentum somewhere in the process. Morgan Freeman is as excellent as ever however and single-handedly carries the film over some of its less redeeming aspects. Not bad, but doesn't stand out in the crowded crime thriller genre.

Starts as an unintentional comedy, and ever so slowly becomes something pretty enjoyable. Considering Kiss the Girls made no real impression on me, I’d say this was more enjoyable, even if the first fifteen minutes is laughable. Pretty cool set piece for the climax.

Absolutely nothing like the book, and they tried to pull of a smart suspense movie, and failed miserably. See this movie for Morgan Freeman being a great actor as usual. He is the only redeeming factor in this.

Silly and annoying thriller. Probably one of the main reasons Monica Potter's career is now dead; she's a foxy and interesting gal who deserved better movies and of whom I'd like to see more

Watchable thriller. Freeman elevates this film somewhat with his trademark sincerity as James Patterson's Alex Cross, but the twists are largely predictable as well as convoluted. I'm a fan of Michael Wincott, but he doesn't really excel here as the main villain. Overall a fairly mediocre thriller and how much you'll enjoy it will depend on your mood and what you're expecting from it. For me it passed a couple of hours of my time pleasantly enough.

I don't even remember watching this movie, besides the fact that I remember that I watched it, if that makes any sense. I don't remember it sucking, so it can't be that bad, just not very impressionable.

one hour into the film and out comes the old chestnut ..."We are missing something !" ... yes, a believable plot, that's what!. ACAS has every conceivable "cop movie" cliche in it, and by the time you get to to the twist at the end no one cares, because it is so lame. Why DO 'supervillians' always leave clues, and bring in the one person that they know could solve the case? .. I mean, it's just SILLY !!

Really a drinking dame disguised as a movie. Drink when you hear "sangi" & you'll have no trouble killing off a 40 & then some. Some runs will have you chugging. Besides it gives you something to do while you wonder who wrote this dialogue, & how Monica was cast as a heavy. Turns out the movie goes all twisty to good effect, although it makes the plot holes gape.

Psychologically one-dimensional psychological thriller with implausible twists and a very lazy script completely lacking in ideas. Dirty-uncle-Morgan Freeman oozes authority, Michael Wincott makes a decent effort, but unfortenately Monica Potter in such a central role is uncomfortably bad.
