I'm going to get through this an entire review without mentioning Keanu Reeves. Whoops

A lovely and cute romcom with awesome performances and laughs and a scene-stealing turn from Keanu. I swear the only good movies Netflix greenlight are romcoms what’s up with that

This is a decent film, and I enjoyed watching it. However, Keanu steals the show. I usually dislike it when comedies have big names play themselves as huge assholes (like Puff in Get Him to the Greek), but it works so well here.

The Keanu Reeves section made my week. Quite funny but very by the numbers as far as rom-coms go. Stronger/more character development for the mom in the beginning could bring the emotional plot points to the next level. I hope Randall Park comes out with a full album, or at least a collab with bret and Jemaine

This was a joy. I'm a fan of both the leads but more than that, the film is so relatable and has a nice balance of comedic moments. It also features one of the best cameos, ever. It's just so perfect, it's best, not spoilt. The songs that Randall Park also raps/sings are all fantastically hilarious and on point. If I was to find a negative, I would say that they probably could have hired younger actors to play their teenage-selves but that's just nitpicking.

Two likable leads (and a gently amusing bit for a "Special Guest Star") do not a great romantic comedy make; saddled with an overlong screenplay destined to make both of its likable leads behave in an inexplicably juvenile way, this millennial answer to HARRY and SALLY works best initially, as Park and Wong successfully establish a bickering chemistry together, but the film largely falls apart in the second half, taking forever to get to the destination that was clear before the opening titles!

The comedic beats in this movie are solid. But even moreso than in your average comedy/rom-com, such moments in Always Be My Maybe are incredibly front-loaded, making it a drag to get through the romance drama of the second half. Turns out going through the motions of a classic love story but with Asian-Americans doesn't make it any less stale.

this is probably as good as any other rom-com, though it's painfully formulaic and by the numbers. a lot hinges on the straight man performance by Park, and the cooky (and somewhat drawn out) cameo by Keanu. not the worst, i guess.

Quick-smart but passable Rom-Com. Worth sitting through the patchy first third to get to the fantastic Keanu Reeves section, I was sold from there on to the end.

I preferred 'Always Be My Maybe' over 'Crazy Rich Asians' simply because all the characters are more likeable. RomComs are a form of fantasy, usually predicable, built upon the chemistry of the leads, and this films delivers a couple you can root for. There are plenty of cute and funny moments to outweigh the clichéd ones. I liked that this film puts a heavier emphasis on comedy, with Park and Wong's characters making each other laugh more, using the actors wisely. Reeves steals his scenes.

I really like Park and he's great here. I think Wong is a good standup, but there is some room for improvement in her comedic acting. As a whole, the movie is a successful romcom that hits both the cute and funny notes often enough and well enough.

What? A new and cute romcom? With nicely drawn characters and an easy-going dynamic? It's hard to believe, considering how the genre had taken a nose dive. But loved both Ali Wong and Randall Park. Also 'the other woman', Jenny, a lovely character and a lively performance. And of course Keanu, his segment was completely nuts in the best way.

Keanu Reeves is a riot and steals the show and the ending was surprisingly touching. The rest was relatively unremarkable, but pleasant enough.

By no means a great or even a good rom-com but at least it's a rom-com that does not (unlike many such films of the past decade or more) rely mainly on sexual innuendo to engage the audience (harking back to the golden era of rom-com that was the 1990s). I was disappointed with Reeve's cameo (not sufficiently funny or self-referential), but the story involving Marcus and his father was surprisingly poignant (it would have made a better film than the main event).

Great to see more Asian stories set in San Francisco in non-stereotypical roles. Maybe next time we'll see non-rich folks. Very shallow writing---would have loved to see more depth of emotion from the strong cast. Best friend felt underused or overused depending on the situation. Keanu Reeves MVP and Randall Park's dad was the unsung hero. The plot zooms along quickly after the leads hook up. Fav scene: Keanu's slo-mo introduction.

It might be because I'm a sucker for Rom-Coms, but I really enjoyed this movie. Definitely gave me a Tine Fey vibe when It came to the humor. Ali Wong and Randall Park's chemistry is very entertaining. I have no fucking clue Keanu Reeves was in this movie, but I'm not complaining. I would definitely recommend this movie.

190815 Unfortunately, just mostly not that funny. The approach to plot development shows no subtlety or art. They go straight at it. And then the moral seems to be that you should throw away all plans and ambitions in order to make someone love you?

I think the two leads do a great job, and the scene with a particular celebrity cameo was a lot of fun (as was the resulting credits song). Otherwise though, not a whole lot else that felt super memorable about this movie. Definitely worth watching once though.

Ah yes. Who doesn't enjoy two hours of people nearing their 40's bickering like perpetual teenagers with nowhere near the chemistry or charisma of Ryan and Crystal.

protagonist was so hateable and did not deserve a redemption arc. she should have just gone on to be a successful businesswoman and married someone worth her time. meh movie. lots of good jokes and some good laughs in it though.

Can't make up my mind whether that was a waste of time or not. I liked some of their jokes, although I do laugh easily, so that's not saying much. Stereotypical plot and predictable ending that will not be memorable except for Keanu Reeves.

This movie is an unfortunate genre misfit, and it dutifully carries the full romantic load all the way to the happy tearjerking ending and its own demise. You will be glad to know, love prevails once again. In contrast to the above it has unexpectedly bright comedy bits on an interpersonal and cultural levels. The freshness of comic thought is sporadic though as if there was not enough material to go the full way and thus the need to lean on the good old formulaic and fluffy gap filling.

Take a CBS sitcom, stretch it to an hour and a half and you get basically this. Awful writing, shallow characters... a lot of "I just said something SO random haha" comedy. People will laud the Keanu scene which is the only part that crossed from unwatchable to good.

A sloppy, contrived script, with jokes that consistently miss the mark. A Netflix rom-com was never going to be stellar, but what really irks me is that it thinks it's the next Harry Met Sally...A mildly amusing cameo from Keanu Reeves and 'the tennis ball song' stop this from being total dross...
